Need help.. 9" Ford 3rd member OEM dimensions??
I have measured several, but they vary all over the place. I found an old link to the original Ford drawings, but the link was dead. Anyway, if anyone knows where I can get this info, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
David

Re: Need help.. 9" Ford 3rd member OEM dimensions??
Nick, that is the one I found that doesn't work. It may work for someone else, but I can't get it to work. I need the 9 holes in the 3rd member (or housing). I have a MW housing that has holes in one spot and a Tom's Billet 3rd member that are in another spot. They won't fit without a big hammer and a die grinder . I am trying to find the "correct" numbers so I can fix this situation.
Thanks,
David

Might be just as simple to buy a gasket to check against?

Re: Need help.. 9" Ford 3rd member OEM dimensions??
Let me clarify: I am building my own rearend housing. I need the Ford OEM prints for the 3rd member flange, down to three decimal places. The gasket isn't close enough, and yes I have everything right side up. I have measured the holes in a Mark Williams housing and have those numbers. I also have a Tom's diff billet 3rd member that has the holes slightly off to the MW housing and has to be beat in. I want to make mine dead-on what they are supposed to be. I have a Strange Ultra case on the way and I have an old Ford 3rd member I'm going to check today. Hopefully between all of these, I can get some good numbers.

David, Strange, and Tim McAmis sell the plates if ya wanna build your own.... Ask Stosh here on the forum. He is the one who supplied the lifter-valley prints here not long ago. He does prototype die design for Ford/etc and may have accses to all that stuff.

I would say the Mark Williams is correct.. never had a MW part that wasn't made correct .
