You'll never get 1250CFM in a 4150 baseplate carburetor, not a chance and still have it be a functional carburetor. About the only way to get much over 1000cfm would be to use one of those aerosol carburetors from C and S. They will run well on a large engine.

DAVE ... have you seen the Pro Systems carb. They say they have a 4150 base which flows 1250 cfm.
I tested for a customer one of their smaller ones with a 4150 base and it was quite good. It certainly DID function, LOL.
Re: Interesting New Carb from BLP
Dammit! Every time I have a good idea for a carb someone makes it. I wish I could manufacture one myself but there's no way in heck I could. looks pretty cool.

Re: Interesting New Carb from BLP
Yes I've seen one of those and I guess I should have stated "conventional 4150" carburetor, four barrel. The one of those I saw I think was a 4500 base but either way just one giant throttle bore.
I think the biggest drawback would probably intake manifold related. The fuel discharge pattern can't be quite the same as a Holley err, 4 barrel. So if the intake is really good with a Holley style carburetor it might suffer power losses with the one barrel just due to distribution problems not directly related to the carburetor itself. If the intake isn't really worked out well there might be some advantages due to airflow as long as the fuel curve and atomization characteristics are similar or favorable when compared to the Holley.

Now Dave, don't say that. The same thing was said about a 1050 on a 4150 base a few years back

Please, don't let anyone tell Ford about their "Ford Motorsport" front license plates............... Sounds better than "Ford Enginesport"
