So-Cal jet boater gets new 600" bullet: 1,130 hp single carb
This was dyno'ed last week in So-cal:
600", Blue Thunder Thor II heads, single 1,600 carb, 15:1 comp., 29* timing. 9" vac w/ vac pump.
Peak power: 1,130 @ 7,200
Peak trq: 885 @ 6,000 ( 1,011 hp)
I know it has a custom Erson Roller cam other than that no cam specs, but I'm working on it. There are plans to retrun to the dyno this Winter with a custom sheet metal TR and dual 1,200's. That could be interesting.
The engine belongs to and parts sourced by DSC Motorsports ( Anza Ca) , engine built by fellow So-Cal boat guy Mike Miller. Mike has built more than a few killer BBC, this was his first "Killer" Ford. He was very happy with not only the parts but how they went together vs some of the Brand X stuff his done over the past few years.
When I get some more info I'll post it.
It's home is a California Performance 18' jet boat.

1,100+ with A-heads with a single 4 is maixmum over achiever. Like to see that.
I need to talk to Mike how built and dynoed it about the fuel and timing, I was told there was more there but its going to run at 7,000- 7,100 in the boat and they could have played with the fuel to get some more. I'll try to find out next week.
I want to know what those heads flow ? I'm waiting to hear back on an email.

Some may think the power is low, but without camshaft specs and etc, its hard to say. One of my friends has a C-headed single 4 barrel 598 that makes 1100hp on race gas, and 1130hp on Q-16. It does have a dry sump and etc.

Hi Vern,
I'm not sure who made the headers, was told "retail" is $ 2,000. I'll see who made them.
I think Dennis is going to need a bigger boat (18')
Talk about "pulling like a freight train" that thing is will set you back in the seat. That boat is going to need some serious set-up work from where it was.

Do you happen to know about what Dennis's boat weighs? If it's as light as mine, that is going to be a handfull.

If I remember it's a bit over 500 lbs. And I was told those headers are quite a bit more than $ 2,000 quite a bit more.

Junk the JET!! > Nothing but sucking!
Stick the engine in a V-drive and lets see what really happens!
