Re: 6.2l test drive .......
This is why I ditched the 2007 6.0 and went for the baller F150 4x4! I love me a diesel but maintance is too damn exspensive to just be putting miles on the thing! Then if anything breaks I would swear the parts cost three times as much.
The Ford exclaims my F150 will tow 10,000lbs, if I look back at how many times I towed more than 10,000 I could count on one hand.
The only problem I have is I paid just as much for the F150 as I did the 07 F250.

I agree, but wasn't suggesting buying a 4 cyl. Ranger to pull a 28 ft enclosed trailer either. I think what I bougt was a mechanically sound, and truck big enough to do all I wanted and more.
To each his own............. People are going to buy what they want, I guess it just don't really matter.
I wasnt disin' on you wagon, I meant guys who try to pull enclosed and big ass travel trailers with f150's lol. And yes I get um in here brand new with the tranny burnt up as a result..................

You didn't need to get the Pimp Daddy Platnium Special.......
Also a good rule to follow when financing a vehical...... if you can afford to pay for it in under 48 months.... you can't afford what your looking at...... No offence to anyone, but alot of people get in way over their head to look cool...... and you need to keep it at least 36 months before trading.....

Re: 6.2l test drive .......
Biggest thing is there is a limit to anything you buy. Single wheel 3/4 ton trucks gas or diesel have a specific limit also. Probably in the neighborhood of 28 bumper pulls in my opinion. Duallys are a different story all together . Point being just cause you got a badass deisel in a 3/4 ton single wheel chassis ................ so what its got its limits ................ truck itself.

I saw a f250 Power Stroke single wheel pulling a 28 footer take up all four lanes on the interstate trying to get the dang thing to stop swaying................ I would say the newton meters were off the chart on his rectal scale.

I feel the LOVE
Guys,
I am one of the people many of you are referring to: Over-equipped, low milage, seldom used Super Duty. Mine is sitting up at Boo Boo's house; he only drives it to keep the field mice from making a home in it
I would love to drive my truck but they don't have ULSD where I am living now (Russia), and they won't let me import a Ford Super Duty in Holland (where I'm going next).
There are reasons why some vehicles don't have 1,000,000 miles on them
Bruce

very true, besides being under powered my 95 f250 reg cab did not like the 24' bumperpull, even with a sway control it was scary as hell, good thing it wouldn't run over 55, and that was towing in 4th gear, 4.11 gears, foot buried...............poor 5.8 'bout had a stroke.

Re: 6.2l test drive .......
I've never had issues pulling my enclosed, first pulled it with a 1/2 ton Dodge with a Hemi, truck was a pig, but didn't have any issues with sway or dangerous towing.
The Last F350 Single I had went back and fourth acrose the country Loaded (Read Way Overloaded) many time with no Issues. I've owned several 32' campers and other toys and F150 / F250 with single wheels with no issues.....
Only Time I've ever had a sway issue was with a 1999 F350 dually I had with a Uhaul trailer and a F250 4x4 on it...... No that was a ride..... Comes down to proper loading of the trailers, proper driving and not doing 90mph down the road like an idiot.

Truer words never spoken. Gotta get the weight distribution right. Most of the time if it's more than 10,000 behind me it's time to get out the Peterbilt.

2 years of hauling 20,000# worth of hay bales per trip on an F250 makes you realize quite quick that the proper truck for the job is much, much larger. The F250 got subbed out for a classic old round headlight L9000.
The old 7.3 IDI would still do 60mph down the country roads with 12 haybales if you wanted to.
There is also a big fad around here of guys with 1 ton dually diesel's towing around the odd 14 foot aluminum boat or a snow mobile trailer every now and then.

Re: 6.2l test drive .......
Blake's F-350 gasser setup is a great way to go for hands-on gearheads. Simple and easy to fix.
I have the same aproach with my 84 F-350 crew cab. 460 4 bbl C-6 setup is easy to fix on the road if needed and simple to rebuild and maintain.
I put on less than 3500 miles a year going to our race track 70 miles away, so a used gasser with plenty of power makes more sense.
I am still amazed at how the new 1/2 ton trucks can pull 10,000 lbs plus..... Impressive.

Re: 6.2l test drive .......
The last 1/2 ton I had would's pull the hat off a sick Whore...... put my 22 ft trailer and car and some tools and it would run 55 mph with a head wind it would struggle to do 55 mph.... no more 1/2 tons for me.....not even if they promised 25,000 lbs and 50 mpg.....
