The new 2011 F-150 5.0 engine tow test drive (and rear wheel dyno numbers)
I saw this on pickuptrucks.com and found it a very interesting read.
I know the Twin Turbo Ecoboost will eventually be the king of 1/2 ton tow packages.
But, considering that the 5.0 Coyote engine in the 2011 F-150 is $ 1,000 more than the base 3.7 V-6, I thought the pulling power of the 5.0 looked very impressive in this article.
That horse trailer weighed 9,000 lbs.
The rwhp was 311, so a 360hp rating would calculate to a 14 % drivetrain loss.
I still can't stop wondering what a 2wd, reg. cab F-150 with the 5.0 and 3.55 gears would do in the 1/4 mile. Low 15's...high 14's ?
