554 ci engine build advice
I sold my 429 that I was going to use in my fox mustang build. Thanks to richter69 I now have a set of diamond 40017 pistons, so I am going to put an eagle 4.5" 4340 steel crank part number 446045002200, eagle 6.7 h-beam rods part number CRS67003DL19, and make a 554, putting it all in a D9 block. Zero deck the block, get a new prosystems carb, cam I have is a 260 dur. @ .050 and 262 dur. @ .050, 650 lift on both, 110 LS solid flattappet, weiand stealth 8012 dual plane intake, D3 heads with 2.25 and 1.76 valves home ported ( I know this is a restriction but I plan on going aluminum next year), c6 trans, 2,800 stall, 3.73 gears.
I am going to drive it on the street some and track about 5 - 10 times a year. Anybody see any problems with doing this setup?

I'd get a crank from Adney Brown at Performance Crankshaft, The Eagle stuff is inconsistant on tolerances and may require rework.
I'd also use a victor and a dominator over the stealth and 4150 if is not a daily driver and you looking for hp.
You do realize you compression is going to be over 12:1 and you will need to run race fuel?

I see you have the L19 part #.......the ARP2000 would be a better choice if you need a bolt upgrade. The L19 is very finicky about moister and the like. The 2000 bolt is as good as or maybe better than the rod so there is no down side.

So the only difference between the L19 rod and the 2000 rod is the bolts?
Is the cam about right for the cubes?

No i did not realize this. I was going off diamond's website, it said 11.3 with 92 cc head. I tried some compression ratio calculators and they came up with about 11:1 with a 97cc head and 10.3:1 dinamic compression. If it is going to be 12:1 i guess it will be a drag only car and no street.

10.3 dynamic is way to high for pump gas, even with Aluminum heads. Just don;t want to see you detonate you engine to death trying to run it on pump gas. Typical with Iron head 8:1ish dynamic is considered safe with 91.

Re: 554 ci engine build advice
.030 would be 545
.040 would be 547
.060 would be 552
.080 would be 557
I'm interested in the 4.5" stuff myself.

Re: 554 ci engine build advice
Would some ARP main studs be needed on this engine build, or 4 bolt main caps?

Re: 554 ci engine build advice
Before I went and spent a ton of money on putting caps etc on a stock block I'd just run the 2 bolt deal with stock bolts, i think it will hold more than most think.
