Class C RV rear frame reinforcement
Hey guys,
I just got my RV back from Bill Mitchell.
The previous owner had put some metal in the rear frame to stiffen it up but I felt it was inadequate for my application so I got Bill to work his magic and reinforce it the correct way. When I get a chance, I'll get some pictures but it's NICE!!! It's all boxed, triangulated and cross braced. I think I could pull a TANK with this RV now
Thanks Bill......... Like I told you a few weeks ago, I wanted you to do the job because I knew it would be done correctly.

Re: Class C RV rear frame reinforcement
What's the tongue weight on the trailer? A friend of mine thought about reinforcing the frame on his Class C but decided against it and bought a trailer toad instead.
He said the frame can't take the tongue weight but could pull it no problem.

I'll never attempt to pull with a class C again without a trailer toad. It ain't the frame you've got to worry so much about, as it is the tongue weight. You better just get used to driving with both hands clinched to the sterring wheel and your butt stuck to the seat. Your in for a big learning experience my friend. If it rains ...park it!! Good luck Damon and be very careful. I did it for years, it can be done, but it's NOT safe!! The right dip in the road and it'll get buck jumping until the front wheels will about come off the ground.Happy RVing buddy

I bet alot of it has to do with how much tongue weight you have as well as how long of an overhang you have past the rear wheels. The longer the overhang the more leverage the trailer has to pull wheelies like Dan is talking about.
Are you taking the motorhome and truck/trailer to BG Damon?

That's the plan. Fortunately a good friend loaned me his trailer
I don't think the RV can tow my trailer

tough tow works great from what I have heard from costomers at work. You have to weld some extra bracing in for it.We offer a tough tow package with all the braces welded in for it.

It just looks like it would be more stable to me ? I don't like the idea of having a link between the trailer and the tow vehicle , but the toads seem to work good talking to the people that use them.

I pull a 34' enclosed w/bumper pull. Its heavy as hell but I have weight dist. bars on it and my single wheeled 97 Ford ps diesel don't weeve at all. But,if I did'nt have them it would be scarry to drive.

My 24 ft pulls good behind my 93 dually, but I wouldn't attempt it with a single wheel truck with out the WDH bars on it.

I don't use anything on my 2000 , got air bags on my 2001 , both pull fine , but the air bags are definitely better, they take the bounce out. My opinion I think they are better than the bars because you can adjust to the trailer you are towing with a little air pressure .

Re: Class C RV rear frame reinforcement
Wieght in a trailer needs to be 60/40 that is from the center line of the axles with 60% of the load to the front and 40%to the rear. You can also use this on building your on trailer the 60/40 factor the 60/40 is frame only not counting the tung.

You can achieve the same by dropping or raising a link ot two on the chains on the bars.

With a picture like that (top), why would you want to post another? Surely none better! I believe that girl has found the "Fountain of Youth"!

Link didn't work for me Randy so I made another.
Dave, I'll let Tracy know that you said that
I loaded the car last night in Blakes 24' trailer. Alan was over picking up an intake manifold and a crank. He suggested maybe I could load the car backwards in order to take some weight off the tounge. With the wheelie bars on the car, I'm a few feet from the rear...

I use Air Lift bags on all of my trucks. Very pleased with their products.
The kits run for about $ 180.00 and is worth every penny !
