It was not a scam. I bought it and it is an R code with 427 2-4 barrel engine. 5th digit is an R on Vin number, May be the only Mercury sold with an R code....in 1966.... anyone have any more input....

Im trying to get an idea how many R code 427 engines were special ordered in the Mercury line in 1966. One posted his brother ordered a Cyclone GT with an R code. Anyone know of any more out there. Marti Report will only go back to 1967, so im kind of on my own trying to find out about how many were made. Any help would be appreciated....Thanks Ted my e-mail is ted.nopdi@yahoo.com as i don't check here all the time.
