Re: Cobralcon Build
Thanks for the kind words guys. I will not be doing a lot of picture posting, just what you see and new stuff going forward.
The good news for me is "going forward" isn't that far now. Today I visit the paint shop for approval purposes and pick up the hood and rear deck lid to put more of the shinny stuff on the underside of each before the painter finishes up next week. Then there's about 1/2 to a full week to wrap up the inside as well as a few things left to do 'till after the paint. Now those pics will be posted. I might get a shot or two of Cobralcon as it sits today and will post accordingly.
Later,
Hal

Re: Cobralcon Build
Checked on Cobralcon yesterday, actually had to take some stuff up to the paint shop. The music to my ears was plentiful in that the painter showed me where, after initial blocking and primer, he still wasn't satisfied with about 7 spots. Now I saw the car a week before after the initial blocking and primer and would have declared it "ready" for paint. No! He had it "fixed" and re-blocked and will re-primer today (Friday the 4th). I figure I can't ask for better than that.
More music was the car will be ready 2 weeks from today!!!
More in two weeks with updates as I get more pics

Today was clear coat day
Here are a couple of shots on the progress being made. Too bad the clear coat shot had to be taken through the booth window. No sense taking chances when the clear is fresh.
The last pic is the result of the mirror stainless being affixed to the underside of the rear deck lid.

The pic is of 2 base and 2 clear but there are 2 more clear to be applied before buffing. I'm sure I'll be satisfied before Richard, the guy doing the painting is. His talent and attention to detail are fantastic
Will be posting the final results come next Wednesday or Thursday....
'Till then,

Thats cool. Whenever I paint a car I only put 2 coats of base and 2 coats of clear. Help paint a 50 Merc with my uncle and we ended up putting 5 coats of base and 7 coats of clear.

Certainly it cannot be considered a race car but I will have to take it to a local strip to at least get a time. What really started all this happened in 1964 when I used to take my first new '63 Falcon 4 speed 260 to the local Pensacola, Florida drag strip and get my clock cleaned by a 283 Chevy station wagon. So while I'm not planning on Pinks All-Out I at least have to convince myself I can do a 15.5 pass!
Some shows and as much driving as I can do in between are my objectives. It's just the fulfillment of a 45 year dream of putting a big block Ford in a Falcon.
Thanks for the kind words,
Hal R

Gettin closer all the time
The self imposed deadline for completion is the Daytona Turkey Rod Run on the 26th so there's still some doing to do but at least we now have wheels so I can roll it in even if the interior isn't done (not cool!)

Hampton is a long way from M.B. From here to Charleston is about 80 miles and Charleston to M.B. is a long way. As far as cities on the map I'm 20 miles west of Walterboro which is right on I-95. Hope that helps.
I'll be updating as we get closer to Thanksgiving and the Turkey Rod Run at Daytona.
Take care,
Hal
