Randy and Becca's bogus adventure
They made the trek to Holly Springs for the DDS race only to find a poorly prepared track that he could not get down and feel safe while doing it. I do appreciate the effort and expense to come to this area and try plus getting home at daylight. They were able to make a couple of TT with runs in the five teens and Terry Edwards with his Ford ran five teens which was good for the conditions.
Re: Randy and Becca's bogus adventure
Yep,
I talked to Randy on the phone yesterday and he was telling me about how loose the track was. He was disappointed in the track prep for sure and just decided to park it. I think somebody else withdrew also.

Re: Randy and Becca's bogus adventure
I warned Randy of what I saw before he made his first pass. He definatly made the right decision to withdraw IMO. John Kolivas made multiple efforts and I dont think he ever made a full pass either even adjusting with a laptop.
Re: Randy and Becca's bogus adventure
Thanks BCR! I usually don't get nervous when he races, but did a couple times Saturday night. I was disappointed with the track because the rest of the facility is really nice. I took several videos and one of us will try to get some up later.

Re: Randy and Becca's bogus adventure
Thats too bad Randy. Very sorry to hear that. All that effort on your part. Never fails someone falls short on the other side. Its really stupid when track owners do this since they are just hurting themselves in the long run. When you consider the safety factor, especially with very fast cars we have today. ITS JUST PLAIN DUMB.

Re: Randy and Becca's bogus adventure
sounds like HS is likie it used to be. Jeff and I used to arrive late on purpose and barely get a time trial in b4 race time BECAUSE it was stupid to try to time trial, they didnt prep the track until the sun went down.... your times would move a tenth b4 first round.
the more stuff changes the more it stays the same.

BCR, I really do appreciate you warning me at least I was ready
Well Beebop sent word he wanted me to call him so I did. We had a discussion and he did listen to what I had to say some what and invited me back for the door slammers race this weekend , I probably will go somewhere else and make sure the problem is not my car as he suggested.
I am not one to just complain about a track , but you can get killed in one of these cars and I do not like a race track that is slick on the big end.
I get tired of hearing that "when the sun gets off the track" story .
Its awfully funny I can run at I57 , Windy hollow , and Bowling green and turn 1.0 60' times at noon when the sun is on the track.
I did get to spank me a blown big block chebbie in qualifying though

Re: Randy and Becca's bogus adventure
So he is saying that you were the ONLY one who had traction problems?? That your car was the problem, not the track? Thats very funny! Tyler has already admitted that he had problems all the way down too on the other site.
Some cars broke but quite a few were loaded up after the 2nd TT.

Re: Randy and Becca's bogus adventure
Well he asked what My 60 ' time was and what it usually was and then he told me something was wrong with my car. I kinda spoke up for myself a little then and I think we came to an understanding

Re: Randy and Becca's bogus adventure
Cool40 it doesnt make any difference what brand or mixture it is, if they dont put it down it just plain aint gonna work. Scrubbing the track with the tractor then spraying ONE time with the 4 wheeler running 30 mph and not coming back with the tractor just sending the cars out on it is not track prep. Even when using the tractor it didnt even slow or change engine sound when he dropped the lift down on the track.cool40 wrote:KY JELLY wrote: BCR, I really do appreciate you warning me at least I was ready

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UU4vCbLBG-o i'v had the tnt track be slick and the next day, race day,be hooken like a bitch.it's all in the prep they give the track.huntsville al. tried some new stuff a few years ago and it sucked in a bad way.you just need to slow that thing down to chevy speed and it'll hook fine.

60 ft question, eh? 60 ft timers are easily moved to produce a good time. Usually their idea of track prep is spray from the water to the tree which may produce a good 60 ft but there is 600 more feet to the track. Again, why was there more cars with the same or close to the sam problem if it is just yours?
I see Curt says that possibly yhere may be two DDS races there at HS next year?
Re: Randy and Becca's bogus adventure
the track owners know the local guys dont have a choice so they just have to deal with what the track may be,but i'd think they would get their shit together for a DDS race.if i'd drove from ky to race and got the b/s about my car haven a problem, somebody may have got an ass whippen!coulda been me but we'd know how it happened.bcr466 wrote:KY JELLY wrote:Well he asked what My 60 ' time was and what it usually was and then he told me something was wrong with my car. Re: Randy and Becca's bogus adventure
Well Imo to be fair I have to prove it is not my car , which would consist of running it on another track with no problems.
I think He done right by wanting to talk to me and inviting me back that says a lot about his character . He has as much right to accuse it of being my car as I have to say it is the track.
Lots of people complain about tracks and their cars are at fault and I understand his position on this .
Yes they are planning on booking two races with the dds next year.

Re: Randy and Becca's bogus adventure
Ahh but there is a choice. That is one reason why the car count is down. Although this is a full eighth with retainer walls, all paved pit/parking area, wide staging lanes, aluminum bleachers, etc, etc. Lots of racers are going back to the smaller racer friendly tracks. I wouldnt have went had it not been for DDS and our Ford brother being there. I might go there for the Lakeland Dragstrip reunion scheduled for Nov. to see the nostalga fuelers, funnycars, and gassers plus lots of the old drivers that ran at Lakeland before it shut down years ago. However, if it turns out like the supposed all Ford show early this year?????? It started out as a 3 day event with special Ford celebrity racers coming, an all Ford swap meet, car show, vendors etc. When it got down to it,(and I attended) it was a ONE day deal that lasted from 9 AM to 3 PM with about 15 race cars, a few street cars and I believe 14 cars in the show area. Two vendors one being BTE whose operation is not far from the track and three set ups in the swap meet. OH they sprayed the track from the water to the tree and halfassed that. The reg footbrake and pro racers started showing up at four for the reg Sat night program. Many of my fellow racers have tried to run there, two of which were there Sat night, who said they will not return. They didnt have a prob with the track, it was problems with staff.
Re: Randy and Becca's bogus adventure
I agree there is a choice. The difference is I am not tied down to the dds and I can and do bracket race and am just as happy doing it. The dds racing is cool and I enjoy it as well. The guys with the blowers and spraying 500 hp of nitrous are kinda tied down to the dds and don't like to bracket race or simply wont. They will not publicly say what I did.
That is why I publically stated my opinion about the track conditions. The track did come around by first round. Louie went from a 5.12 best qualifying pass to a 4.83 1 st round with no changes , but I did not know it was going to get better and was not going to risk it.

Re: Randy and Becca's bogus adventure
you think when you go to a nice track the last thing to worry about would be prep but it just aint the way it is sometimes.i like my local track as good as any "big track"i have been to and on race day you will hook on it,unless the car has problems like KY's
