Re: 572 CID - Stock Kaase P51 heads
Yes---got the ATI PG trans ordered with the supercase, trans brake, vasco input shaft, 1.80 straight cut gearset. Went with a 9 inch ATI converter as well, should be close to a 5000 stall speed.
Starting on the headers in early January--it will be a step header, 2 1/4 primary to a 2 3/8 then to a 4 1/2 inch collector.
I have done numerous little things to the car, changed the factory puller electric fan for a flex-a-lite pusher fan, remounted the trans cooler, did the spark plug wires, finished the radiator set up, finished off the fuel system, etc, etc.
I will post some pics once the trans and headers are in.

Engine picture with some progress. Car going in for the headers next week. Got the header flanges and the collectors in. The electric fan is on the front of the radiator, as a pusher, to give me more room to work on the car.

Re: 572 CID - Stock Kaase P51 heads
Ok, lots to update---one more weekend and I should be able to fire this thing up!
Headers are done, they are a 2 1/4 to a 2 3/8 step to a 4 1/2 collector, complete ABS delete with new brake lines routed, with the proportioning valve for the rear brakes. Motor mounts done, and they are beefy! Final trans mount done, and I had two driveshaft loops put in. The front was obvious, but I had a rear one put in as well---I had a driveshaft let go once on the rear and it took out both mufflers and punched a hole through the tunnel under the rear seat---so better safe then sorry.
Whats left to do (which I will do in a couple weekends)
1) mount and wire in the 7AL3
2) install driveshaft
3) finish fuel system
4) install 16V battery
5) wire in all gauges
6) install new shifter--wire in transbrake
7) install engine diaper
finish throttle cable / accelerator pedal setup / finish up the firewall with sheetmetal to cover the holes where the heater core was.
At some point, add two feet of pipe off of the 4 1/2 inch collectors and put on mufflers---but that is later. It will be ran for a bit with open headers. The neighbors have been informed!
Thats it!!

Re: 572 CID - Stock Kaase P51 heads
Getting closer.......
Fuel system finished, #10 line from the Aeromotive A2000 pump to the regulator, then #8 line to the carb. 20 psi to the regulator, then 7.5 psi to the carb.
Also mounted the sending units for the oil pressure, water temp, and trans temp. Mounted the fuse box to the firewall, and took some scotch brite to the header tubes, came out pretty nice. Mounted the 7AL3 ignition box in the interior, will start all of the wiring next weekend.
Notice the ABS block and all of the brake lines missing? Brake lines / line lock is in the fenderwell, and to get to the other side the passenger front brake line was routed along the K-member.

Looks good, however I would check how much engine movement you have under hard acceleration. The fuel lines from your regulator to your carburetor are just long enough from the looks of it in your pictures. Wouldn't want to "stretch" them if you know what I mean.

Good point, and I just shortened them to by about 1 inch --- didn't think about that. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: 572 CID - Stock Kaase P51 heads
Ok, so I think the engine compartment is finally done. I covered up the big holes in the firewall left behind by my removing the heater core. I also fabbed up another metal trim piece to hide the hammer dents/carnage that someone previous to me did to the firewall---it looks definitely alot better, but I might come up with something else in the future.
The car started up a few times, but the starter really struggled, the 12V battery that I have has died a couple times in the past, I think while it is fully charged, once I turn on the ignition, fuel pumps, water pump, then fan, you can hear it load the battery. I was planning on a 16V battery anyway, but I was hoping this battery would be strong enough to run everything while I take a couple minute video.
In any case, driveshaft, rear springs, throttle cable, and 16 V battery will be here next week.
In the meantime here are the finished engine pictures----notice the firewall vs how it looks in early pictures I posted a couple thread pages back. I took some better pictures of the headers after I sanded them.

Its alive!
Ok, finally got all the issues sorted out. Previous attempts to capture any decent sound was a disaster as it was just too loud. I threw on some dynomax 4 inch inlet/outlet mufflers on it, as two of the tracks I will be racing at have noise restrictions. In any case, here it is---hopefully I will make it to the track very soon.
