New plan for Tweety
Here's the plan for LiL Tweety guy's,As some of you know I think I have a Block issue w/the engine thats now in Tweety. I'm planning on buying a new A460 block this off season. It's driving me crazy not being able to race the car. I have a Fresh 514 w/flat tops on the E. stand that I don't have any heads/intake for. I know this idea won't win any Dyno contests but atleast I can race the car this year. I am going to flycut the flat tops to work w/my A Heads. We'll see what happens. I have the weekend off and i'm gona get started.
OH, I forgot to mention, it's a 2 bolt block w/nod crank. Wish me luck

Nothing wrong with a nodular crank, we ran a 514, A head combo in my old car, went 8.45@161. Ran it two seasons with no issues, no worries...

The cap straps work as long as you machine to caps flat. Problem with the current gurdles is no contact with the cap where it needs it.

How hard you gonna turn it?? If under 7,000 I wouldnt bother. Plus being that small a motor. For what little your gonna run it. Unless you plan on keeping it around for a spare with a smaller cam later on.
Good luck.

Re: New plan for Tweety
Just got done talking to Rick this morning. His computer is down, so me being the post-whore that I am, Heres the scoop with Tweety.
The mystery has been solved. WRONG OIL EXPANDER RING! , so basically they were along for the ride doing nothing of course. The block checked out fine. Rings were TOTAL SEAL, and YES, LEM is getting with T.S. to get it corrected. Childs & Albert are on the way. If you guys dont see Total Seal in your next goodie box from Lem, this is probably why. GO GET EM LEMMY
Regards.

Right on. Not a simple fix, but at least the problem was found and corrected.

Re: New plan for Tweety
On the Work computer tonight
Yea, Took the block to shop and run the bore gage thru all the cylinders and they all were within .0015 all thru. Was kinda scratchin our heads until we noticed the lines (up/down) in the bores about 1/8 wide with a 3/8 gap between each one, all uniform in every cylinder. I started looking at the piston and rings again and noticed they looked the same as the expander ring. We took it out of the piston and sure enough it was a perfect match w/marks in cylinder. Took the spacer rings out and they were not wide enough in depth. They were back in the ring land not scraping the cylinder. I measured it and it was .0065 in depth and I then measured another spacer ring I had and it was .0465. So they had sent the wrong spacer rings w/ring set. I got the ring set w/my custom Diamond Pistons thru Lem at bfevansraceparts. So I called Lem and he apoligized for THEIR mistake and said he would get me a new set ASAP.
Guy's, You can buy your parts where ever you like, but you CANNOT get better service and any quicker than BFEVANSRACEPARTS.COM.
Lem ,Thanks I appreciate your kindness and courtesy in this matter, you are simply the best Buddy.
