Tried 2 days in Wisconsin ....nothing but rain. 1 lousy grouse out of the entire time. In south Dakota now and we have 50 MPH winds. Remin Me ...why to o do this? I couldn't hit a damn bird today if my life depended on it!

I felt the same feeling when I was on our farm planting greenfields for deer a few days ago. his must be fun? No one has shown up with any money or to help. Getting kind of old, this is the third yr in a row it has been that way.

Re: bird hunting
To me, hunting (anything) is about just getting out and enjoying the outdoors, and getting away from everything for awhile. Most of the time, I'll go hike 3-4 miles from the nearest road just so I can kick back and take a nice little nap in the fresh mountain air. Harvesting my quarry is just icing on the cake. But for the most part, I could care less if I get anything, as long as the good Lord allows me to get out and enjoy all of His father's creation, I'm happy.

Going after the majestic Oriental bird this weekend with a group of friends. If we don't get a darn one it will still be a pleasure to enjoy the Good Lord's beauty of nature.

Re: bird hunting
Don't mind do much not limiting out. Just that the conditions suck! 40 MPH sustained wind is a nightmate to hunt in. Got a couple today though. I'll take ya up on That Red. Looks like I'm gonna have plenty of shells left.

Are you referring to the doves? Man, that's some of the best game bird I've ever had. One has to eat quite a few to fill up, but they're very tasty. Pheasant is pretty good as well. The meat I can't stomach is goose, or even ducks. I was ruined on that meat, 'cause the guy that cooked it didn't know how to cook it. Now I just don't eat it at all. Elk meat on he other hand, now THAT'S where it's at...
