? on my 86 f150
My 86 f150 has daul tanks the front tank the fuel pump don't work burned up plus it is rusty. My dad when he owned it quite using the front tank because the pump went out.Been using just the rear tank for the last 4 years now the return is filling the front tank and not returning to the rear tank.Would it be the black canister that all the lines go in and has the small filter in the bottom before the frame rail pump .causing this.
Thanks Jim

I'm not 100% certain, but I think so. What I did when mine quit working on my '85 was just put a Holley Red pump in front of the framrail pump and drew the fuel through the factory fodder. Worked great for years, and was till working after I sold it. Also alot cheaper than replacing the factory units.

My frame rail pump and rear tank pump workd fine just returning fuel to front tank instead of rear tank.Might just try and find something to make the lines longer and bypass the tank splitter with the filter in it and put a line filter before the frame pump and try that.I am not planning on using the front anyway but right now it will be a catch can for the return line until I get something figured out. They told me the black cantainer was $189.00 from ford he called it a bypass filter splitter.

They are a filter in the bottom of it the bottom screws off and it has a filter in it I have replaced it before when my Dad owned the truck.I pulled the lines to the front tank and took some 5/16 gas line and made 2 plugs out of it to plug it canister.I drove it about 5 miles after pluging them and it ran fine and will keep a eye on it to make sure the return for the rear tank not pluged some where.Like I said I more than likely never fix the front tank not planning to make any long trips in it anyway just pull the ranger to the track longest haul around 75 miles that would be Silver Dollar. Most of the time will be to South Georgia Motorsports Park witch is only 45 mins. away.
