09 F150 problem
Ever since I bought the truck it has seemed to have a tug to it while your accelarating. It just turned over 31,000 miles and still has the tug but doesn't seem to want to downshift at times. I took it to the dealership and they checked for codes, TSB's and could find anything that might referance the problem. It's not just me either, other people will be riding in the truck and ask, "is everything is all right". As I have become accustom to the sensation. You can mainly feel it if its at full throttle or pulling a hill. (engine under load).
They told me that my next maintance visit requires a fuel filter change and we will see if that cures the problem.
2009, F150, 5.4, 3v, 4x4

Jones,
Is it like a hesitation before it downshifts,if so that's what the 2007 F-150 with a 5.4 did when i had it.I think your truck has a 6 speed auto correct?
Later Mark.

Re: 09 F150 problem
Just got the truck back from the service department and the guy that brought the truck back was told to tell me from the service department that they have had problems with the fuel system in the 09 F150's. When people leave the truck running while refueling. He said that it causes the fuel system to collapse and they have to replace all of it.??
I wish I could have talked to the service department but I had to run home and the wife talked to the runner. I don't know if this was my problem or not, I'm about to go do a test drive.

Re: 09 F150 problem
you should ask him if you syncronize all the valve stems on your tires if that will help ? cuz I think they just fed you a line of SHYT about fuel system collapse...... anything to keep from fixing the problem, and blaming it on you....

Jones what this translates to is they haven't got a friggen clue so blame it on something that sounds complicated you should have ask the guy if it could have been the Flux Capacitors may need a tune up, or ask if they checked the fluid in your axle bearings.... it may be low!

Sounded like BS, but I was on the thrown when the guy came, so I didn't get to respond. I didn't know if the message got lost in translation between the service department and me or what. Figured some one might know what they really meant because it would be interesting to see a hard line collapse.

It would be really interesting to see it collapse, even better 'cause it's under pressure from the in tank pump isn't it??

Well, whatever they did the truck drives better. Get's about 1mpg less this morning on the way to work and the converter didn't seem to want to lock as much. (Even hugged up on a semi.) Butt-o-metter registers a slight differance.

Re: 09 F150 problem
I have been reading around and it sounds like I was having a "smart" transmission problem. Seems to be a lot of F150 owners on the internet complaining about it.
Does anyone know how I can find any TSB about any flashes. I must say that since I got the truck back the throttle response has been much better, it will down shift if I want to accelarate from a roll and doesn't have that "tug" motion. I'm just affraid it is going to re-learn and go back to driving crappy again.

Re: 09 F150 problem
I would have thought that Ford would have a flash for police / goverment vehicals that wouldn't have all that self learn crap, no traction control, no anti sway, no roll control bs. Seriously my truck couldn't out run a Dodge Darango from a roll because it would never down shift. (I don't mean a close race either, he just walked away from me) Wouldn't even down shift for passing.
As I said, it's working 100% better but it has shown a sign last night that it was starting to not want to down shift again. If I had the money I would order a programmer, but it sounds like they are even having problems with the transmission. As none of the programmers give you an option to adjust anything with the transmission.
