This may be a stupid question and all but will the 08 and up plugs work on a 04-07? I've got an 06 5.4 and feel like seeing what else I can break?? Laughing Oh and almost 52k trouble free miles till I just typed this statement, boy was THAT stupid! Razz

The problem I had was one of the spark plugs in my 2001 Lightning decided to blow out of the head, and take the coil with it! I've never driven anything as "doggy" as my lightning on seven cylinders - a Chevette with two plug wires off could have beat me home! The following morning I found out that it's common problem with the "mod motors", seems that Ford installs plugs in them that only engages a few of the threads in the heads. I called the local Ford dealer , Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe, they told me that the engine had to come out to replace the cylinder head (supposedly can't fix them - unless it's still under warranty), while we have it apart we might as well replace the other head too - go re mortgage your home, and bring us the money (we'll trust you for the rest). My daughter's fiancee who works for a Lincoln Mercury dealer wised me up by sending me to his mechanic that just happens to have the specific repair kit for this job (he told me that mine was the sixty seventh one that he's done this repair to. He also replaced the spark plugs with a one that had deeper reaching threads, and has been trouble free for the last 30,000 miles.

It is all a big conspiracy so that you have to buy a new car every 80 000 miles because repair bills cost 1/2 what the value of the vehicle is worth. lol!

I can walk you threw the whole freaking thing, it's fresh on my mind!!! Get the tool from summit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LIL-65600/ or I can send you mine...

GOOD LUCK
Thanks for the offer D, I'm going to take it to a local ford mech. who does work on the side.

Yes, they did.
So my buddies 2008 "Funkmaster Flex" Expedition won't have this happen when he tries to change plugs?
