Re: Davis Traction Control
That's amazing how quick a few degrees can stop wheel spin. Very cool product.

Re: Davis Traction Control
"Real-time" automated traction control like the Davis box...........
NHRA/IHRA calls it cheating.
ADRL allows it in most every class but their Pro Stock class.
It technically is cheating cuz your taking the job of real-time "pedaling" the car away from the driver in these faster classes. But now days enough people are using it that if it happens to be allowed in whatever class a given racer might be competing in, he is pretty much behind the curve without it.
The MSD Digital-7 box is somewhat a usable "poor-man's" substitute for the Davis box since it can be programmed to pull timing out/in anytime during a pass. But it's still not as good since it can't adjust to real-time conditions during the pass like the Davis box can.
I hate that these "real time" automated boxes (like the Davis unit) are being allowed in more & more classes now days. But it is kinda hard to put the technology genie back in the bottle once it gets out.

Re: Davis Traction Control
Cant say that I'm a big fan of the timing control, but it adds more safety to the racer than a -15 suit does.

Re: Davis Traction Control
That type of system has been around a few years.
It was the buzz around the dirt track scene around 2004 or earlier.
The early system acted like a rev limiter when traction was lost.
