It would not surprise me one bit if the ADRL will one day be the death of NHRA. Founding Membership right now, gets you in free to all ten tour events.
Re: ADRL ***** wow *****
I'd love to know, how do you start something like that? How do you build the car to compete? Where do you get your parts? How do you get started in the class? Just like prostock, how do you get started? I would love to know.

prostock start; lease a car & engine for the first year, then come up with about 1,000,000.00 for the next year, yup about 1 mil a year
then theres the need to have 3 engs, people to be at the shop working to find more power, spare parts, the pile of junk parts that didnt work will be large, test test, and more testing, etc etc...

I have friends who run two cars in ADRL. Husband and wife team in the Extreme 10.5 class. They aren't the fastest cars out there but they do have fun. They run every weekend of the year though so they actually make good money with all of the pro-mod events they run along with Top Sportsman and what ever else they can pick up.
They run Hans Fuestel BBC with lots and lots and lots of nitrous.

Dang, and Boss 429, my friends said that the prostock cars actually cost more than the top fuel cars. His dad ran a top alcohol dragster.
One question, who do you lease the car from? A prostock racer? Thanks for the info guys, if there was ONE thing I could do for a living it would be drag racing. Seriously, serious drag racing like what these guys do.
Wait, don't the prostock guys run nitrous? Or is it N/A?

Re: ADRL ***** wow *****
Some of them guys have some damn nice video cameras with impressive shutter speed choices for killer slo-mo. My two camcorders can't compare.
My ancient "big as a house" full size VHS camcorder has a very large range of shutter speeds to choose from. But it's downfall is the VHS's big tape dances around way too much on the tape heads from engine sound vibration making for a wibbily-wobbily video when filming a car's launch.
And while my mini DV camcorder has a super stable, almost vibration proof video picture for filming launches. It unfortunately has a very limited number of shutter speed choices.

Supposed to be N/A, but there have been a few times where some have been caught running N2O.

Re: ADRL ***** wow *****
The ADRL is based out of the St. Louis area. They were at Gateway the last 2 years and the attendance was larger than any other event (even NHRA and Pinks All Out). They put on a great show. Its a shame that with Gateway closing they won't have a local place to race. Hopefully someone will buy the track.

I love the ADRL racing...my favorite.
Funny story about being about being competitive in Pro Stock these days. We were at a race in Mooresville and from the track you can see the Summit shop. We ran the Friday night qualifying and the lights were on in the shop (outside doors open). We run Saturday and later that evening/night start watching NHRA qualifying and you can guess it…the guys are still working hard over in the Summit shop! Guess it is paying off because Brad is leading in the points now.

A local guy here runs a very competitive car in ProMod trim in ADRL. He lives, campaigns his car and engines, from the income his (illegal) gambling machines at his Dad's truck stop. Nice guy and good racer

yep. grew up watching them. we raced HT's old car for a while. the 81 Slowmaro. my dad raced with Gus Tamporello, Michelles dad, in 4x4 stuff back in the 80's and 90's out in Abilene.
Here is a pic with my wife with Michelle. You can see HT in the background on the ground.
