Battery disconnect placement
2002 Mustang
Battery in the rear on passenger side
need to add a battery disconnect....
I cant find a good spot to add it to the rear of the car (if someone has a good idea let meknow)
I was wondering if I can add it to where the fuel door (not used) is..basically looking to make an alum plate to put over the hole for the fuel door....
the rule book says rear of the car behind the rear tire...is this legal????

Re: Battery disconnect placement
You could use a pushrod style switch and mount the actual switch to the rollcage bar.

I don't think it would be legal inside the fuel door. Do like ranger said, mount it inside the trunk and use a push/pull rod out the back. It must be installed so it Pushes Off, and clearly labled that way. That makes for a slick looking setup.

Mines not an '02, but I positioned it so the push-rod came out between the right side taillight and license plate. Then had a custom tag made with large Push Off on it. The location also made it easy for me to run a Morse cable up front so the driver can easily turn on or kill the power.

I like that setup. Heck, I may even change mine to something like that.

Thats a slick setup there Doug. I like the idea of having the cable to switch it from inside the car. Are you able to switch it on and off from inside, or just off? Never knew if the cable could switch it to the on position.

You can switch it Off/On. I copied my parachute release lever and mounted it next to the shifter within easy reach. I had the Morse push/pull cable custom made for me at Midwest Control Products using their online design program. Somebody posted a while back that Lokar copied my design .

Very good idea there, only thing I would have done different was makes the bracket double shear to mount the handle but then again I like to over-do things sometimes. I remember B&M used to sell Morse style cables in different lengths in 6 inch increments all the way up to like 40'
