Posting some old race video from years ago...(update: more videos added)
I finally got around to burning some of my old race VHS tapes to DVD's & though I would post some stuff.
My heavy beat up rust bucket '70 Ranchero with a decent nitrous Cleveland around 1989. Back then doing a bunch of dry-hops after the burnout was all part of the fun.....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXqBAfqRFu8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGaRvR-IjUc
My '69 Mustang about 1990 with a weak no compression mismatched "junk pile" Cleveland made from leftover parts from past "blowed-up" stuff.......
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhIM_UjCvYw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FO2K4ogJaF0
Two guys I know both ran almost identical 67-68 black Mustangs years ago, both with Clevelands & 4speeds. Back then in their fight to get to the low 6's first, there was this small nitrous ka-boom. The track announcer back then was one funny guy. He always had fun poking fun at some racers & having a few tasty beers up in the tower......

Re: Posting some old race video from years ago...(update: more videos added)
COOL!!
I remember taking my 70 Maverick to Kennedale back in the late 90's when it was still considered pretty fast. I ran the No-E class. I think it was running 7.30-7.31 back then with a stock block, stock crank, motorsport rods and dome pistons with some cheap ole Edelbrock heads. Nothing special but fun.
Oh, I never did dry hops and I didn't have paint either (primer gray)!!

What did the Chero run ? Look like it had some traction issues and was real torquey.

Thanks for sharing Dave, that was some cool stuff. What ET's did the mustang run? I ran a 351-c in a sq. tube 69 Mustang myself from 90-96. It went 6.60-.70,s in the 1/8th.

The way I look at it, its good to do one as a "practice launch" to see if you'll hook good or not.cool40 wrote:good stuff Dave! i like the old "dry hop" days too.

If he said what I thought he said "little more nitrous to blow that f%*ker smooth up" it had to be Lem!bbf-falcon wrote:Thanks Dave,Thats some of the best i've seen for awhile. Paint is Ok, but Primer is DAMN COOL on a Mustang! The Ranchero was never going to see primer or paint cuz it's beat & banged up nasty look was perfect for catching people off guard on grudge nights.56Tbird wrote:.....If I was a young man ,I'd head to Texas with my paint gun and get Rich

It's not 100% accurate but back then between a junk yard scale and a scrap yard scale, the Ranchero weight was supposed to be between 3600 & 3700 lbs. The hood alone was over 100 lbs, I yanked the hood & gained a tenth.BigDave65 wrote:......What ET's did the mustang run?.......
The Ranchero ran 7.70's straight motor & 6.70's to 6.90's on the bottle depending on how fresh the slicks were (and which compound was used). On these passes it was only running in the 6.90's on worn out Firestones with a ripped-up/ocean-waved tread surface cuz the compound was way too soft.
The Mustang was a square tube deal & was a dog both with/without nitrous cuz everyting in the combo was either mismatched or old busted up parts.
With a shitty too loose 8" GER converter and a 6.00 gear, motor passes were in the 6.50's, & with a small bottle 6.40's.
With a shitty too loose 8" GER converter and a 5.14 gear, motor passes were in the 6.70-6.80's, & with a small bottle 6.50's.
With a way too tight 10" TCI converter and a 5.14 gear, motor passes were in the 6.90's, & with a small bottle 6.00-6.10's.
Never seen an 8" converter as bad as this GER was when power was added or gear was taken away.

Yea, dry-hops were just too damn much fun!'65 T-BOLT wrote:I gave up dry hops after I broke an axle. Broke about 8" out of the center,
With a lack of decent traction on the worn out slicks, the U-joints were never at risk. The rest of the dirt-cheap drive train was nothing special, FMX trans + B&M Transpack shift kit, 10" 3500 stall "Banana" stall converter (anyone remember them??? ), back braced housing, stock N case, Strange 31 spline axles........and a single track with welded spider gears .
I finally got tired of waiting on the 55 chebby & rolled all in.bb429power wrote:........Can't be double bulbing...DAVE.

I do have some other stuff on my youtube page, but it's mostly my buddy's uggly Willys crap cuz he doesn't know how to upload video. He's hoping the videos could help him get a sponsor.
https://www.youtube.com/user/DILLIGASDAVE#p/u
You guys could watch his Willys clips to bump up their view counts (& maybe make him less pissy about their low numbers ).
