Re: golf carts
I like the gas carts for towing. An electric one can do it, but it really puts a drain on the batteries.
Re: golf carts
I don't have any experience with towing a car with one but I totally agree with David. The electric one will lose energy quickly if your pulling a car up to the staging lanes, the gas will stay going strong until it runs out of fuel.

YOU, have no clue, mine never loses power, and I pull cars allthe time, you have to have the cart set up to do the job you want it to do.

Re: golf carts
I'd say that it is a deal where you will need to pick the battle you want to fight. My dad has 8 carts both gas and electric. He's kind of a golf-a-holic. I always get the call when one isn't working, and the only thing I've done to the gas carts is put gas in and check the plugs once in a great while. The electric ones I've put in countless batteries, rebuilt battery boxes from corrosion, replaced many cables, and chased down some other gremlins. I like the electric ones for the power, and the gas for the lesser maintenance. I have pulled stuff with both and they will both do the job, just make sure you have good batteries in the electric and keep them charged up, it's real hard to find a gallon of electricity that you can borrow.

Yeah, their kinda spendy eh?? You can pick up a golf cart pretty cheap. The big country clubs update every few years and dump hundreds at a time into the market. A buddy had a few electric ones he bought to resell. He kept on and it pulls really nice. Lotsa torque.

Re: golf carts
We towed with an electric cart for a long time. We would disconnect the neg cable when not in use so there wasnt a parasitic drain. Ran out of room when we were hauling a dragster, door car and 2 jrs and bought a small framed 4 wheeler.
Justin, have you ever wondered how trains worked. They are electric. The smoke is from the diesel generators that power them.

Say what now Curt???
You see, my friends dad started buying and selling golf carts and we would ride around in them. And the electric ones just got really annoying to us, yeah we weren't hauling anything but they would still die out and when he got a gas one that's all we wanted to use. (plus it was lifted to the sky with big tires)

Re: golf carts
90% of the lifted hunting cars here are 48 volt electric 4WD. They will climb a tree if you can get the traction. Yes, gas is easy, but they dont have half the pulling power an electric does.
