new truck 6.2 or 3.5 eco
father in law is buying a new truck. Was set on the 6.2, bu the dealer talked alot about the 3.5 eco boost. Torque was close. He puls a 20 foot enclosed. His 5.4 only pull 40 mph on an 8 percent grade. Hopefully this will do better. When not pulling trailer, the eo boost should get better mpg. Not sure which to go with now.

3.5 eco boost! 11,300lbs towing power and 22 plus MPG without paying over 60 thousand for a truck. That 6.2 is going to cost mega bucks. They are only putting the 6.2 in very high end trucks!!! That's just my 2 cents

Is it only on start up and goes away after a few seconds, or is it ticking all the time?

This problem seems to be oil drain back from the HLA's. once the vehicle start's up, oil is pumped back into HLA's and the ticking goes away after a few seconds. 6 seconds max, depending on temp of engine and outside air at time of start up.
Not sure if the fix was a thicker oil??? I will ask the Valve train guy's on the 6.2L..

Re: new truck 6.2 or 3.5 eco
They had the Henessey 6.2 Raptor on Top Gear the other night.
What is the 427 going to come in? Is there anyway someone can get me inline for one?
My only problem with the new trucks is I can't get the traction control to turn completely off. Top gear said to hold down the traction control button until it starts flashing. I did that and when it starts to shift into second gear or in second gear the traction control comes back on.

if you unplug the ABS from the rear axel it will turn it off completly, its just one plug usualy on top of the pumpkin
or any programmer like the SCT model will do it also

When I put the truck on the dyno, they pulled a fuse under the hood. I just don't think it's right for them not to allow you to turn the TC completely off.

They're my tires and I'll burn 'em off if I want.

They are making them as I type! You should start seeing them in January. Go to www.ford.com and build you one just for shits and giggles...

5w - 50 synthetic oil will fix the issue if the customer keeps complaining about it.
Other wise, this tick is not an issue, will not hurt the engine.

I tried to the ecoboost engine was not an option. I am asking because it is in the budget for me to get a new truck for work in 2011.

Ford.ca has it as a $1000 option.
make sure you're on 2011 trucks, not 2010.
I just priced out a 2011 platinum
I'll have to try it on Ford.com and see how much different it is. but up here its base price is 60K +
edit. just checked it out, we get screwed up here. your base price for the same truck is "only" 43 600
