I worked for Tracker Boats back in the late 80's and tig welded .063-.090 aluminum 8 hours a day 5 days a week. I got bored one day and welded two cans butt to butt using .035 welding wire for filler rod. Our welders weren't near that fancy either.

That Tig welding "test" has been around since ancient times. Laughing

If I remember correctly the bottoms of most aluminum cans are thicker than the sides. So being able to weld the sides is the real test. Twisted Evil
