Re: OUR ALL NEW 6.7L DIESEL
Looks like I'll have to threaten to quit again to get another raise.
Lets hope it aint a pile like the last 2 engines. ( with Ford building it it should be fine )

Re: OUR ALL NEW 6.7L DIESEL
New cast pistons
compression ratio drops a bit, to 16.2 from 16.7.
The 6.7-liter SST provides up to around 30 psi boost
That is a good combination for cast pistons. As much as I would like to see it be a great engine Fords past history says it will be a POS. They haven't made a decent engine since the 460.

Re: OUR ALL NEW 6.7L DIESEL
Ford officially says the standard manual transmission is gone as of the 2011 model year. The take rate was too low to justify continuing production of the ZF-source 6-speed handshaker. The rear cover of the new engine follows an SAE 12 bolt standard that allows Ford to mate almost any HD automatic transmission to the back of the mill.
Those bastards! I need to cry now.

Re: OUR ALL NEW 6.7L DIESEL
For Fabio....
_____________________________________________________________________
The new engine architecture enables easier service work for all major
engine components, potentially reducing down time. On turbocharger
service, for example, the body/cab no longer has to be removed from the
frame to access the turbo; also, the high-pressure fuel pump, EGR
(exhaust gas recirculation) components and thermostats are directly
accessible from the front of the vehicle

79 today, no a/c needed, and yea i ran an OASIS Lem...............
My back still killin' me, starting to get concerned about that.
Might file a lawsuit against Navistar for making me bend over those pos' so much....I'm sure its the cause.

Re: OUR ALL NEW 6.7L DIESEL
Sounds a whole lot like the same hype we heard about the previous two engines. Hope they aint the same pos.
The manf. are always trying to make customers think they are getting a "big" truck by calling them "truckers", etc, building them high off the ground, (wth can lift something over the bedsides?) Why dont they build them with tilt fiberglass front caps, (like big trucks) so you could have better access, plus they would be lighter? Provided, that they dont stick the damn engine back under the cab like Frightliner, Volvo, IH does. Never understood what they are thinking by doing that. I've spent 30 yrs working on this type setup and its getting worse every year and junkier every year. Too much time spent getting to something to repair. Glad I'm done with it. Stupidass, "educated" mf engineers and designers! They should have to work on them AFTER they get 1/2 million or more miles rather than sitting on a stand in the floor!

Re: OUR ALL NEW 6.7L DIESEL
No thanks, I'll keep my "old" Navistar t444e in my '95 F350.
Works great, lasts long time.

As long as ATS or Banks is involved, you might have a point.

Re: OUR ALL NEW 6.7L DIESEL
I miss my old 1984 F250. Had the good ol 6.9 under the hood. 4 speed T-18, 4x4. My only complaint was it wasnt a auto. (Traffic is a nightmare around here and grabbing gears in rush hour trafic is not my idea of fun)
I would LOVE to have another one for a d/d. Id give up my Ranger.

I am not too sure the aluminum valves are a good idea.

Re: OUR ALL NEW 6.7L DIESEL
When they make one as good as, or better than, my 97 PS, I will buy a new one. We will have to wait and see

Re: OUR ALL NEW 6.7L DIESEL
Well, I have dissasembled and assembled this engine, and about all I can say right now is if it runs like it is built I would buy one. Very easy to take apart should be easy to maintain.
