CarCraft 460 Build
I don't know if this article has been discussed very much here, but I wanted to see what some of you BBF gurus would say about the carburetor used in this test. Do you think an 850 would give a little better HP numbers?

The geometry of the valvetrain might not have been so difficult if they hadn't used the Comp rocker.

Well, this is part of the point I was trying to make, due to the size of this cam, how much more HP would a 850 make on this combination? I don’t know if I was more surprised at the dyno numbers considering the size of the cam, or the size of the carb. In the “BIG BLOCK FORD HORSEPOWER CHART INFO gathered by DJOHAGIN” section at this site, the engine builds for 500-525 HP level still recommend a 750 carb. I’m just trying to learn more what makes these engines run and I’ve always thought an 850 or bigger was the way to go.

that engine build is almost dead nuts mine. i have those heads, intake, pistons,,,my heads were also dressed. block was decked. i do have victor reinz nitro seal had gaskets though. the only thing different is the cam. mine has less duration and lift.
...... i run a 3310 on mine. exhaust is shorty headers with a 45 degree bend off the collectors and a two foot pipe with summit turbos. all three inch.
......i mixed the rockers with harland sharps and comp pro mag rockers to achieve correct geometry. i just cant remember which brand went on which side (intake or exhaust).
.....anyway i am pleased with the result. it boils street tires all the way through first and sec gear with 3.27s in my zeph. it has really good off idle reponse and crusing manners. spring will be here soon for some 1/4 times.
however it is a street car first. fwiw bobn
