guide plates
Does the blue thunder heads use the same push rod guide plates, as the doves?

Re: guide plates
Yes, but you may have to cut and weld them.
Cheers Colin.

Re: guide plates
Harold,
X2 on what Colin said. Cut the guide plates and reweld them. The B.T. heads have the guide centers spread. So therefore you must carefully check your piston to valve relief clearance and be prepared to remachine your valve reliefs in the pistons. Also, double check with Jomar or Lem, but if I remember correctly the B.T. heads take a different rocker stud girdle. I have slept a few times since then, so.......?

Re: guide plates
BT moved the valve centers.....not the rocker studs. They should take the same stud girdle.
Re: guide plates
What Lem said, same stud girdle. cheers Colin.

Lem,is the combustion chambers similar to a Dove and A429? Harold has a Dome piston and was wondering if there might be clearancing problems.

Re: guide plates
It's been years since i've had those heads in my hands.......Charlie is working on an iron set maybe he'll jump in on this.
Re: guide plates
Here's a pic of a BT chamber if it helps. It's the 80cc version. Charlie had freshened them for me just before I sold them about 2 1/2 yrs ago.
Harold, the guide plates on mine were just regular Manley plates for the BBF. You will need to cut them, but not all the way through. Make a cut on the intake side that goes almost all the way through. Just leave about .100" or so holding the two halves together. Use a screwdriver blade in the slot you cut and just slightly tweak them. Tighten the studs down and tack weld them back in place. It's not needed, but I took mine off after they were tacked and fully welded the slot, then ground the weld down. Pay no attention to my ugly ass welding, they worked fine.
