Future 460 build for 79 F150
I have a 460 in the garage that came out of a 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III it's a factory 365 HP motor.
What heads were on these motors? Im thinking about just doing all new bronze guides and hardend seats. Would it be worth it to get new valve's or will I be ok with just back cutting the valves and doing a competiton valve job? Also thinking about doing some port work and some bowl work.
Ive been looking at doing a solid roller cam, maybe something with a mid 600 lift.
Has anyone built something similar?

It should have the DOVE heads on it and they have induction hardened seats from the factory. There are some good street solid roller grinds out there, but I doubt you will see much gain with it over a good solid or hydraulic flat tappet cam. The lobe profiles for the flat tappet stuff is better suited towards what your goal is. However if you would like to do the roller there is no reason why not. Porting these heads is a very good idea, as there is a lot of performance to be gained by doing it. Make sure you use a guy that knows these heads and your cam lift specs. Just max porting and not paying attention to the valve angles for the cam lift is going to hurt performance.

The head casting code is above the exhaust ports and should read DOVE-? The last letter will most likely be A or C.
