93 F150 528cu project build
(I don't know if this belongs in this forum)
Just thought I would share some pictures I don't have all the pictures in order.
Just off the trailer
During the axle swap
9" axle out of the 79 F150 being swapped in place of an unknown 9"
Sanded down the frame rails with 40grit, primed and painted with semi gloss.
Rewiring the dash so I know where everthing is.
Want to do the gauges something like this.
I'll have to update the pictures tonight. The engine is liable to be installed this weekend if I feel that I will be able to install the oil filter relocation kit with the engine in. We put the bed back on last weekend and the rear end sit's a little lower.

Re: 93 F150 528cu project build
I can't decide what I want to do about the electronics... Right now I can't figure out why the turn signals don't work. I have the headlights and tail lights working though. For simplisity I thinking of just using a switch box for the ignition, starter & fuel pump rather than wiring it into the ignition switch. One person suggested I just pull every factory wire out of the truck and install a Painless Prostreet switch that has all of the lighting options I would need to make it street legal. What do you think?

Re: 93 F150 528cu project build
I have had the truck for a while now, maybe a 9 months. I sold the Mustang to a forum member from Minnesota. I thought it was going to be a nice enough truck, but as I work on it I kinda wish it was a little nicer. I really wanted a working AC system.bruno wrote:when did you get that truck jones ???? this is going to be a sweet lighting !!!!

More than likely it will be a piece of lexan painted black on the back side.

Re: 93 F150 528cu project build
Josh,
I'll take some pics of the dash in my Mustang. I used the stock cluster, gutted it and stuck a piece of plastic sheet in it to mount the gauges in. It fits in the white cluster back shell still and mounts in the dash like it's factory. You could use whatever you want instead of the plastic I used.

Josh,
interesting project. I am building a 94 myself. I have been tossing the idea of a RacePak in the dash. Looks like it would fit perfect plus my truck will be a track only. I have two other Lightnings to street drive.

Re: 93 F150 528cu project build
I am really trying to decide if I want to pull every bit of wire out of the truck and start re-wiring with a Painless Prostreet wiring harness kit. The kit is on the exspensive side $530 but I an imagine all the other items that will get deleted along with the wiring during the process.

We have the a/c and the full stock gauge cluster working on my dads 95 with a carbed 460. It has alot of the original wires still with the harness that goes to the engine chopped down to what we need. Tach, a/c compressor, oil pressure and water temp gauges. Speedo works off the rear but it still has an 8.8. I can get a pic once the snow melts off somewhat.

Re: 93 F150 528cu project build
Ok, finally the engine is finished, I can now either take it to the dyno or throw into the engine compartment.
Engine overview:
528cu 385 series Ford, Evans Ported Iron cylinder heads, Performer RPM intake, Cartwright camshaft, Adney Rotating Assembly, engine block machine work by Finishline.

Re: 93 F150 528cu project build
I found a entire front clip off a 95 F150 and went and picked it up today. I'll have to post a picture for kicks & giggles. It's a maroon color but it has the plastic inner fenders, a hood that isn't cut up and a working hood latch!! So I guess I'll remove the old clip before I install the engine.

Re: 93 F150 528cu project build
Since today is my B-day I figured I'd work on the truck some.
Set the engine in the frame rails for the first time.
Headers don't fit and the 90 degree oil filter adapter won't fit without some notching of the frame.

Re: 93 F150 528cu project build
Is the header fitment issue something that a small spacer at the bottom of the motor mount would fix?
