New Engine Has Miss
I just put together a new motor 466 ci. For some reason I have a miss.....first it was on 1 & 8. come to find out the New Petronix dist I bought was bad. put MSD 8350 in this afternoon....now I still have #1 not firing ??? Put different plug in it using (AGSP32).....different plug wire...I think the valves are adjusted correctly...going to check that later....have 160 lbs compression on it....I put SCJ Heads from BV Evans on it. Sounds great for 7 cylinders. Would prefer eight I'm running a Edelbrock Air Gap intake.....Demon carb....750.....I wonder/think #1 isn't getting any fuel? Don't really make any sense that it wouldn't be? I'm running out of ideas here.....any suggestions would be appreciated.

So have you confirmed #1 is getting spark? How do you know its #1 that's missing?
What intake? Why would you suspect only 1 cylinder was so lean it wouldn't fire off?

Engine Miss
Pulled off # one plug wire and it doesn't change feel of motor....pull all the other one and you can feel the cylinder drop. Pulled the plug and it didn't look like it had been firing?? Plug is getting spark. Pulled it out and grounded it to see if it was sparking. ..Intake is an Edelbrock Air Gap. Nothing I can think of makes any sense?

Are you 100% sure the valves in the #1 cylinder are opening?

Valves Opening
I checked compression and it was 160.....I am going to pull the V-Cover and check the adjustment tomorrow....so 100% sure.....probalbly 99% sure they are opening. Could I still have good compression if they weren't opening.

Yes you could. If it were me I would pull he valve cover off and let it idle, just watch. You'll know if the valves aren't opening real quick...

Nope. Pull the vc and check it before you run it again. Might be a bent pushrod. But if it's not bent yet it may bend when you light it off again. Don't roll the dice.

I know before, we took a plastic hammer to the valves to see if they were stuck on the seat. What happened was we bent a pushrod and we didn't know what was going on until we ran it with the v/c off and saw 2 rockers weren't moving. But yeah you could check it without starting it...But I figered the problem is already there, so it would have already bent IF that's the problem and if it isn't it wouldn't bend. But I see your logic.
