TFS A460 info needed
I'm new to big fords and I need to know the difference in the TFS A460 heads. the ones on my motor have TFS cast into the ends. I did a search on here and found out there are a older and newer style heads. are they the same except for the name casting? mine are not cnc ported, what would be the intake and exhaust size? is there a part number on the head somewhere? do all these beads have BBC exhaust ports? these seem to be common heads, from what I've read on here so far,but i need to know exactly what I have. thanks.

I don't know a whole lot about the older heads other than they do have the Chevy exhaust bolt pattern with the Chevy bore spacing of 4.84", and the newer ones are on the Ford 4.9" spacing but still use a Chevy flange. In other words on the older heads a Chevy header would bolt directly on, and if you have the newer ones you have to cut the flanges between the ports and spread them a little. I hope this helps, maybe Charlie, Lem, or Randy might chime in and shed some more light about the differences.

if the TFS is cast not Engraved on the ends odds are they are the old style A460's, Post some pics up and we will ID them for shure...

You got that exactly backwards ... the older TFS heads, (including the Ford Motorsport "A" & "B" heads), have the Chevy exhaust flanges on a 4.900" bore spacing along with the ports and the newer TFS heads, (including the 18 head bolt versions), have the Chevy exhaust flanges on the standard Chrevrolet 4.84" bore spacing.

My bad! Thanks for the correction Randy, they say the first thing to go when you get close to 60 is your memory . And don't you say one word Mikey .
Re: TFS A460 info needed
On the older TFS and Ford Motorsports heads, the short side radius on the intakes was fairly acute, like Niagara Falls. They all need to be ported and flowed for best results. Randy is correct about the exhaust port spacing, old style was on 4.900" and thus the Chevy header flages needed to be cut with a hacksaw, and spread a bit. The new style TFS A-460 heads have the exhaust port spacing on 4.840" and can use a one piece header flange.
