Who runs a Moroso/Mr Gasket water pump drive kit?
I have been thinking about trying this deal. Just don't know how good they work at keeping the water moving.
This will be on my 99% track only truck with a dove headed 472 on race gas.
Any advice good or bad is welcome.

I have used the Mr. Gasket kit and motor in the past with OK results. I did find that a stock production pump impeller worked the best at that motor's speed.

Add the overdrive pulley to the electric motor and they move a lot of water.

Mike I have a electric drive on mine with the over drive pulley it works great and like said after a run with the engine shout off you can leave it running with the fan running to cool the engine down in about 5 to 10 mins.An it is alot cheaper than the electric water pump.

I put one on last year and really like it. Even in the summer it cools really well.

Just ordered the Mr Gasket with the overdrive pulley.
I needed to order some +.050" valve locks anyway and hate to order just 1 item .

Re: Who runs a Moroso/Mr Gasket water pump drive kit?
I have run the Moroso electric drive motor, with the overdrive pulley. First on my iron head 466, and currently on my alum head 572. My car is a 100% street driven car.
For me, this set up (with electric fans) worked BEST, esepecially during car cruises etc. When stuck in traffic, and your engine at idle speed, with the engine driven waterpump, my car would creep towards overheating. When I replaced the engine driven fan with the electric pullers, it *helped*, but didnt completely fix the (slow) overheating process... my engine still continued to build head at idle (presumably due to the slow speed of the waterpump) with the electric water pump drive, my water pump runs at the same speed all the time and keeps the engine within a few degrees of the chosen thermostat. With my setup, my car actually runs cooler when idling in traffic, and gains a little heat when driving around (and more heat when hammering on the car). but it quickly recovers, and NEVER gets past 190 degrees (with my 180 Tstat)

Randy which impeller?
Right now I have the cast iron impeller pump, but the pump is off for a cam change. Now would be the best time to change it if the stamped steel impeller is better.
Thanks
