Spoke to T&D...said they can make me a one piece stand that will connect all the intake rockers. Then individual stands for the exhaust that butt up against the intake stand. Also they will correct the stand height on the exhaust side due to the larger installed height on the springs...so no more shims.
Of course I have to send them the head and wait 4 weeks for them to make it...and it's gonna cost some money...but what's money at this point anymore. Gotta get this expensive engine fixed so I can actually race it.
chappy89 wrote:lghting94 wrote:Ok that clears it up some thank you Charlie and Chappy. I still dont understand why T&D would make everyone that wanted a set of one peice stands to send them the heads to make them off of but oh well it is their business and their funds doing the devolopment.
Im with you on that. I guess they developed the original system and didn't make any drawings or keep the head they used to design their setup. So anytime someone wants one they have to send in their head. U would think after the first time they did it they would make drawings or something. Hell, I would let them use my head as a template if they would give me a little something off the price. LOL.
Interesting---I got my set up from Kaase, I guess they had sets from T&D specifically made for the P-51s, because when I ordered them I got the 1 piece intake stand, but there are 4 individual exhaust stands that bolt to the intake stand. They had them like that in stock, right on the shelf. So far they have worked very well, but I only have 380 on the seat and 1000 open, so pretty mild compared to what you are doing.
Here are a couple more pictures showing the entire intake stand piece:
And the whole setup---before I went with titanium retainers and different valve springs:
Re: 598 turbo motor keeps breaking the head
Wow haven t been over here much, that failure sucks. Hope you can fix that.
I guess i should be happy with my 10 bolt A 460 533 living with normal crower rockers and jomar stud girdles at 24 psi 7600 rpm.
want to go 18 bolters and shaft mounts wait to see how this goes before i upgrade
later wally

Ok guys. Got my new stands in from T&D. One piece intake stand, with individual stands for the exhaust bolted to the intake stand. Very nice looking stuff! Thanks to Sheldon at T&D.

Yeah wouldn't that be nice. Sheldon talked me into upgrading the exhaust side rocker into steel pieces, just got to sell my other arm to pay for it.

"the ex fit so close on the intake stand i may not even weld them."

If they are not welded or bolted you will lose some of the virtue of the system.

Re: 598 turbo motor keeps breaking the head
I have the TFS-BBF3's and they do not have these plug holes.
138...you have a PM
WW's rockers look nice. They make a quality product as well. I like how T&D made my exhaust rocker stand bolt up to my intake stand. Plus they made a custom set for me because my valves are installed at 2.200", not 2.100". So my stuff is one off custom stands. But they now have a design they can easily reproduce...

Re: 598 turbo motor keeps breaking the head
One thing I noticed that I really like about the WW stuff is that the intake stand goes all the way to the end and provides a place for the last rocker stand to butt up to. That's really nice, and my T&D stuff doesn't have that.

Re: 598 turbo motor keeps breaking the head
I know this is an old thread, but will the WW 1 piece stand work on 10-bolt heads?

Re: 598 turbo motor keeps breaking the head
FYI, Got this info directly from T&D regarding a 1 piece stand
WE HAVE DONE THEM IN THE PAST BUT THE UNFORTUNATE THING WITH TFS, OUT OF 4-5 HEAD’S WE HAVE DONE WITH THE 1 PCS STAND IS THAT THEY WHERE ALL OVER THE PLACE AS FAR AS FITMENT AND EACH ONE REQUIRED DIFFERENT STANDS FROM THE OTHER. SO THIS WILL REQUIRE A CYCLINDER HEAD TO DESIGN A SET FOR YOU. THIS SET STARTS OFF AT $1453.00 AND WILL TAKE AROUND 4 WEEK’S TO BUILD,.
