Is there some way to stop the recording other than turning the unit off ?

Yep, saw that Wink . I was wondering if there was a way to do it manually other than turning it off.

Doug,
Manually turning off the power is the only way that I know to stop the recording (other than the timer like Bruno mentioned).
I put my power switch on a long handled toggle switch in a convenient place on the dash. I usually flip it off...then back on right after I make the turn off. The thing that I do not like about that...is that if you run an Ultra Dash, it also shuts off all of your gauges momentarily.

Thanks Keith! I figured if anybody knew the answer, it would be you king . I will be getting one of their dash displays at a later date to clean up my dash and get rid of all that wiring. I love the simplicity of the V-net system. Thanks.

Doug,
One thing to consider when you install the Ultra Dash....
Some race series or classes may not allow data recorders. For example, the Hot Rod Reunion rules forbid them in the Gasser classes.
I made a removable (Dzus) aluminum panel that covers my good old Stewart Warner manual gauges and mounted the Ultra Dash to that, leaving all other gauges working. It is easy to remove that way. I also did not trust the fancy RacePak technology and wanted a back-up. It was helpful when my oil pressure transducer went bad at a race in Louisiana 2 years ago. The Racepak said that I had about 200# of oil pressure when I fired it up one morning. My 40 year-old manual gauge gave me the real deal!
Those Racepak systems are great for sure and the V-net is cool.
The newest MSD Power Grid ignition box has a v-net plug that interfaces with the Racepak. That would really be nice.
Thanks!

Racepak Sportsman? Empty ON/OFF ... That's the question!

Post  LivermoreDave April 24th 2011, 9:26 am

If your hot rod utilizes a delay box, how about wiring your RacePak Data port to the delay box, if you have multiple terminals. Or, have a master switch to power the unit, then use a micro switch that works in conjunction with the accelerator to activate the data logger. Or, use a RPM activated switch. Or, like has been written, simply install the master switch to power the unit inside the car within reach!

Just a thought or two Embarassed three!
Dave.

Thanks Dave. I'll just change the record time in the software. I have a power switch for it on the roll-bar switch panel, anyway Mikey has enough to do without remembering to turn something off.

You don't have to worry about filling up the SD card. I have left 2 years of runs on it before.

Plenty-o-room on there.
