My current build
We decided it was time to move out of the garage and into a new building. It is not as nice as some of the shops you guys have but it will work just fine. (We've built barns like this before and it works great if any of you are thinking wtf. LOL)
concrete will be poured next week, due to my daughters 1st birthday and people coming in to town, and the sides and roof will go on as soon as the forms come off.

30' x 40' turned to what most people consider sideways. I think it utilizes the space better in a shop this small.

Re: My current build
are you building it with 2x2 square tube? mine is 3x3 post,2x2on the sides, and trusses built with 2x2 and 2"angle.it's all welded together and been good for past 12yr.

combination of 2 3/8 pipe and 6" & 8" c purlin. we have more metal going in it than the pic for the frame work. we've built one of these with this type of construction in a 50'x75' for the farm about 10 years ago and it is still holding strong.

Re: My current build
the purlins work good too.when i built on 25x40 for the side of mine i used purlins for all of it.took the 8"c's and boxed them for the post.i kinda enjoy building stuff when you weld it together.lol.the metal work aint bad but the insulation sucked! i used the 6' rolls from a steel building company in AL.good stuff but sure get under your skin.whatbumper wrote:cool40 wrote:are you building it with 2x2 square tube? mine is 3x3 post,2x2on the sides, and trusses built with 2x2 and 2"angle.it's all welded together and been good for past 12yr.

Re: My current build
I have a good connection on insulation. It is made here in Texas in 4x8 sheets and I will be getting some of the "seconds". it is quite a bit cheaper than the rolled stuff but probably doesn't seal as well but hell if its that damn cold or hot I don't want to be out there anyway.
