we switched to turbos so we didn't need stinking mufflers anymore.LOL

When I had two chambers on a street car and switched to Mac mufflers it got better mileage and seemed to run better. Didn't race that car though.

did some more searcing...looks like there is a lot of bad things about flows costing power, more power a motor makes the more flows rob

I use 'em to keep loose paper and stuff from blowing out of my trash can.

During some Engine Masters dyno sessions of the past years, (they were tested more than once), the Flowmasters add a slight amount of torque and lose a bunch of horsepower over some other brands.
If you can't look directly through the muffler, it will cost power...

Magnaflows - DynoMax - Extreme Technologies, some Hooker mufflers were REAL close with whatever particular combination.

I installed a set of 5" bullets on mine. We will find out if they hurt when we go to the track. They sure did quiet the Beast down alot. I have lost 90% hearing in my Left ear. Doc said it wasn't caused by noise, but i'm not taking any chances. Rolling Eyes

Switching from flow masters to magnaflows I picked up almost 20 RWHP in a 500 HP / 404 rwhp application. This was several years ago in my old Spoiler.
Less drone and much better top side pull. I really like them and use them exclusively now for personal builds.

Flowmasters are more about sound than anything. I use Bullets on anything I want to make power with.

I'm using the 6" Round 3" diameter Magnaflow Mufflers on my 89 Mustang with a 466 BBF.I don't think it's real loud since i haven't been pulled over by the cops yet. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I wouldn't want "Bullits" on the street, even for part time but, on a drag race car they are great.

I have Hooker Maxflows (straight thru) and they were freaking loud on the Ranger, but the Mustang has an H pipe and they are not bad at all.

The H-pipe helps dampen the waves.
