Thinking about going boating Empty Thinking about going boating

Thinking about buying a boat. Are their any boat manufacturers that install BBF's ? Boat will need to be between 32-42 ft , cudy cabin, twin engine, performance hull, built in the last 10 years. All of the used boats that meet this discription all have BBC's. Mad Any help with brands to look for would be greatly appreciated.

IIRC the 385 was discontinued in 1997 so I doubt there would have been anything built with one in the last 10 years. The only boats that had the BBF had the King Cobra outdrives and the newest one I saw was about mid 90's.

How strong are the king cobra drives ? I would go back that far in years if the performance was there.

I have been boating for many years and have owned probably 20 or so boats. My .02 is stay away from anything OMC, Mercruiser is the only thing I will own. They are more efficient, more reliable and cheaper to repair. Unfortunately about the only engine you are likely to find with a Mercruiser outdrive is a GM. I hate to say it but they really do work very well in the marine application(don't kill me) but it's just my experience with them. It is about like the GM guys using a Ford 9 inch rear end, or us Ford guys using a Powerglide. It just works. Also try to find a boat that has been stored inside, makes a world of difference in the over all condition of the boat. Hope that helps and not made it more confusing for you.
