I wouldnt think they'd ever wear out but I could be wrong.
The funny thing is the basic internal combustion engine hasnt changed for 120yrs...its made improvements but basically hasnt changed. Id like to see more innovations on the newer stuff. 87 octane gasoline is certainly capable of more than 15mpg in a truck.
