hello bbf ford forum
not new to the net or reading the forum though. I am building up my number of posts so i can list less than 100 bucks of stuff. Isnt the minimum number of posts an awesome way to force people to post replies on a new forum that they know absolutly no-one? I think this is post # 8 or 9

Re: hello bbf ford forum
I know the methodology behind the 25 post requirement. I am supposed to walk into a new forum where i dont know anyone personally nor on this forum and just start telling them what they did right, wrong, and what i would do if it were me. Then after 25 times of making a fool of myself, then i have the chance to post some very invaluable items for people to buy after i made a bunch of new friends. So after dragging my feet for over a yr of reading this site i decide to get a login and have a 25 post minimum before i can throw anything up for sale. Good thing the site looks out for the best interest of the buyers! I am sure the fellas here cant determine good parts from bad, but after 25 posts, they must be good parts.
Sweet
I do have to thank the regular members though. I have learned alot here and would have made a bunch of expensive mistakes had i not been reading here. But since i have really nothing to offer in knowledge i am happy to sit back and learn from you all without trying to inject something in every thread.

Trust me, if my only intent was to show up and pawn junk, I would be in a homeless shelter by now. I wouldnt put up with it and neither should you guys. The other forum i am a regular on, i see it all the time, guys pop up, try to sell some valve covers and "reconditioned" intakes that they think are valuable due to the casting dates, and then get picked apart by the members. Within a month they disappear. Kinda funny to see it happen.

Re: hello bbf ford forum
In the middle of dragging home a 65 Ford Custom. It was a SB car from vegas. I will be putting a mild 428 and C6 in that one. That will be the cruiser for momma. I just got her 71 boxtop built with an 89 mustang GT motor.
The big one i am working though is a 69 Fairlane 500. It too was a SB car. Was going to do the 428 and toploader, but horsepower to dollars, i am having a 385 built. I can get way more out of that for the money. It will be a street car but i do intend to wring the pee out of it at the track. And not just the strip either. I want to hit the road course with this. The rear is getting pulled for a 3 link nine inch w/ disc brakes. Richmond 3:89 gear. I am swapping the front drums to the Granada spindles and dics. Front springs are getting swapped too. Mounts and headers and radiator are coming from Crites. going with a Dr. Gas and spintech exhaust. No power brakes. Robb MC fuel system w/ return line back to the 1/2" in 1/2" out sending unit. Goin with an 850-950 QF.
Oh the motor. Its gonna be a 521. I am impressed with the geometry of a square motor. I know i could have gone bigger, but chose not to. Solid flat tappet. Airgap intake. Thinking of a pressurized oil accumulator to go with the external filter. The cam will be custom. Dont know the specs just yet. Going with less than 11:1 comp since i plan i driving this thing cross country, and dont want to tote a jug of juice to add at every fillup, so maybe closer to 10:1 or 10.5:1. And the heads, I wanted Blue thunder but they are hard to find and cost a mint. So I am having the heads (D0VE-C) ported and opened up as much as possible.
Robb Mcquarie is the builder. it should be ready for pickup by mid to late sept.
Also planning on painted steel valve covers and painted steelie rims, with dog dish caps if i can find them.
Only thing i havent decided on is the personalized plates.

You'll just need to talk about obtaining HeRo status, and breaking dynos.

I really want hero status. Sign me up for that class.
I dont think i can break any dynos, cause first i would have to break the bank. No plans on that just yet.
I do have a few shots of the Fairlane, but its nothing glamorous. But it is a good foundation to build on. When i get to the other computer with my pics i will try to throw a few up here.

Nope, Born and Corn Fed Kentuckian
Are you going go notch the shock towers? I HIGHLY recommend you do in order to gain access to your headers and spark plugs. This is for the 69 Fairlane. It will make life MUCH easier and less painful
Back in the day I had an R code 69 Ranchero with a 428 & 4 speed then a C6 Automatic. Fun car but a pain in the ASS to work on.
Good luck with your build, sounds REALLY cool!

Re: hello bbf ford forum
I hadnt planned on cutting them. But that doesn mean it wont get a free pass. I have been spoiled by working on alot of trucks lately and have forgotten the joy of scabbed and scarred kncukles from tight shock towers. If it turns out to be a bigger pain than i want to deal with, I might just do away with them altogether and swap in some type of IFS from a Muskrat. That might give me a credit or 2 towards my HERO degre
