dumba**'es on some ford truck forum
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/847981-460-vs-5-4-a.html
it says 90's 460 but I dont believe that makes much of a difference
i am laughing so at how errogent some of these idiots are and i know most of you guys will too when you read this, gets real good about the second page in with a couple of retards.
anyways a bunch of these idiots are trying to prove that a 4.6 and a 5.4 will out do a 460 and yadayadaya.
then they say with some "slight mods" LOL, a 5.4 with DESTROY!! an also slightly modded 460...lmao
they have no clue. and the guy who really pisses me off drives a frickin 87 ranger with a 2.9. jeesh..
heres his quote:
"A few minor mods on a 5.4 and you would have a moded 460 crying for mama." no comment
someone please go on here and help these retards get there shi* straight.. i have an 09 150 with the 5.4 and its no comparo to my 76 250 with just intake and headers.

Re: dumba**'es on some ford truck forum
thats a closed thread.
i forget the exact quote but V10 outdoes 460 at every level and rpm. LOL
My old rotton 7.3 IDI (turbo) made the V10 (granted it was a 99) look like a pilon. the V10 doesnt impress me, nor did it impress many other people....thats why its been replaced with a 6.2 v8

Dont matter anyway, if the 5.4 was so much better than the 460 they'd be what everyone used in the EMC rather than the 460. Judging by the odd 4.6 vs the 5 or 10 460's each year i'll stick to my old junk

Maby two of those guys have actually worked with the 460 AND the 5.4, 460 wins all day long. The real sad part is that they're comparing the gimped out 460 vs. the upgraded 5.4

This is why I stopped going on there and switched to fordification.com which the creater of that is now making fordification.net for a different series of trucks.
460+E4OD=7022ft/lbs
5.4 gas in SD+5r110w=7399ft/lbs
5.4 gas in F150+6r80=9083ft/lbs
5.4 E85 in F150+6r80=9705ft/lbs
There you go. The kicker is that the 5.4 will be putting down these numbers around 1000RPM and will most likely get better MPG even on E85.
Mike
Edit: Just for kicks, I did my Explorer and with the 4.6 3valve putting down 240ft/lbs at 80% of it's peak torque, the 6r60 transmission and 3.55 rear end. It's putting down 7106ft/lbs at the axle shafts.

Re: dumba**'es on some ford truck forum
Even though my math skills are not as sharp as some let's do some figuring. The E40D transmission had a 2.71 first gear ratio and the 6R80 trans has a 4.17 first gear ratio. The 5.4 liter 3v motor has about 30ft/lbs less torque than the last 460's produced. So if you never leave 1st gear those guys would be correct. But......I like to drive in overdrive. So if we use that guys math the 460 makes more torque in high gear even taking into account the taller tires that came on the older 460 trucks compared to the newer 5.4 trucks. The 5.4 did get better mileage in the only truck that I had compared to the 460 truck that I had.
The stock 460's had a lot of potential for performance growth as you guys know. The 5.4 being a smaller motor does not naturally aspirated but has shown a tremendous amount of potential with forced induction. If I had to choose between a beefed up 460 or a blown 5.4 for a street truck, I would choose the 5.4 engine. But for most racing apps the 460 is a much better platform. IMO
