I could live that price but at $5.00 about 2 gals to get it up to temp make 4 or 5 passes that would burn up 10 gals then going to have to have a couple to get it loaded and unloaded thats $60 / 5 = $12 apass to try the alky out verses 5 gals of 110 turbo blue $36.45 / 5 = $7.29 apass but if the rain stays away tomorrow night I will know if I want to stay with the alky or get back on the gas.
Jim i've never ran an alky carb just the injection but i fill the car up before i load it,warm up burns about a gallon, then make 5 passes and burn only 5 more.i guess the warm up time could burn more with a carb if you dont have a way to lean it out some.

Lee I have a lean out on it with it opened all the way I will burn almost 2 gals to get it to 160* Remember I still will have to tune it more than likely after after a few passes unless we hit it right off the bat with the hero tune. Laughing

The main jet wont have to do anything with it not warming up fast at idle, Jim you can turn the idle mixture screws in for the initial warm up of the day, that with the leanout will warm it up fast and use little fuel, just back um back out after you get it up to tempo Even then back in the carb days it took me about the same to get the first bit of heat in it though.

One other source that may consider.

I buy mine from an "oil" company. Their main business is selling bulk quantities of hyd oil, motor oil, different industrial lubes and fluids, etc.

You might look in your area and see if there are any companies that deal in that sort of stuff.

I called around here where I live and got the same answers you got, big price tags.
Try going to the localdrag strip or even roundy round track if they run alky. Ask the guys that run it, where they get it. I found a guy at a local drag strip that will get me a drum for $140 with the sweet smelling lube.
Hope this helps.
