Re: 5.4 broken plug
heard that most times they will come out with the tool..also read many many times the correct way to do it without breaking the plug..but you need to be able to let truck sit for a few days... pull the wires off and pour rubbing alcohol into each plug well and let it sit for a while..then repeat this a few times...then use a impact to bust them loose...cooter wrote:anyone had a 5.4l triton motor break a plug off in the head? Re: 5.4 broken plug
Well $200.00 to remove 2 broken plugs, now i can stop swearing at ford and figure out how fast i can sell the truck. I cant complain about the cost to remove the plugs but i shouldnt have to pay for a ford screw up

Re: 5.4 broken plug
They might make the better replacement plugs but you still have to get the factory ones out.............serious FAIL on the engineer's part on this one.............and a lot others.
They should just make disposable vehicles for like 100th the cost......no damn bluetooth sync bullshit just a cheap ass form of transportation and when it breaks throw it in the trash and get a fresh one out of the carton lol.

Re: 5.4 broken plug
I had a 3V with the same spark plug design before going to the 572, and never had that problem as I pulled the plugs often. It seems like this was always a problem though when one was pulling the plugs for the first time after 60K miles or whatever. One thing is for sure, simply put anti seize on the body of the plug (below the threads) but obviously not anywhere on the ground strap or the insulator nose---and you won't have the problem again.
