Re: aluminum rods???
When I got my aluminum rods it was suggested to run an oil temp guage and get it to the desired temp as the oil wont heat up as fast as the water on an idleing engine. In my truck the water temp would get to 180-190 with a large aluminum radiator, electric water pump, and two electric fans and the oil temp would only be to 140

Re: aluminum rods???
160 is where I took mine they never really suggested an actual number, on a side note my moter made the best power with the oil temp at 180 and the water temp below 160 at the start of a dyno pull.

Re: aluminum rods???
I've never waited for the oil temp to come up . the farm yard is 1/2 mile to the paved road , I idle down that and by the time I get to the pavement- engines at 160 or better - it's time to make she buck!!!
