elderbrock performer rpm`s vs. p51?
me and my dad have a 70` ford maverick with a 521 cu. motor. with edelbrock performer rpm heads thats been ported and pollished. 460 victor intake with a 1050 dommy on it. 266 272 647 653 solid lift cam, how much more of an increase inpower would it give us if we put the p51 kaase heads on it? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Are you talking about fully ported P-51's or out of the box?

Re: elderbrock performer rpm`s vs. p51?
Either way, ported or unported,,,,,,,,it will be a ton more power. For example there was a 100 Hp diference between Bruno's Edlebrock headed engine(847 hp), and Randy Moore's P-51 headed engine(951 hp). Both had fully ported and flowed heads that I did, and both were built by JB Bob and dynoed here at AM&P. Remember that you will have to change pistons, or re-machine your intake valve relief in your current pistons if you switch.

IMO Out of the Box P-51's Vs Fully Worked Edelbrocks, The Eddy's may make more power if they are done right, Full Ported vs Fully Ported, the P-51's will beat the Eddys' Like Charlie has already said.

Re: elderbrock performer rpm`s vs. p51?
thanks for the pm charlie, have a few more questions.
we have found a deal on a set of tfs -A- 460-5441-B001-M-83 heads with intake and exaust valves and matching tfs intake, thats been pwder coated gray and black, question`s?
would the p51s which we love, be better for the 521 S4.300/ B4.390 set up?
we know well have to have diffrent pistons for this head and have headers built, what about push rod length and will our ford motorsport rocker arms work, there 1.73s.
thanks to you also dfree383

With Either Heads (P-51 or A460) your going to need Pistons. However You typicaly can notch your existing pistons, but the A460 heads will loose a bunch of compression.
With The A460 ones you will need Headers and a Intake also, With the P-51s you should be able to resuse your exingting Intake and Headers.
IMO the P-51's (if you can get them) offer a great upgrade and bang for the $$ spent, while retaining alot of your existing parts and they won't add any weight to you car.
Whats the Part number on the A460 heads?

I'm going to go back to my origional suggestion, Get a Custom Roller Cam and proper supporting Valvetrain for it and have the Eddy's gone over by a pro shop and have them tuned up. You still have alot laying on the table and it will be alot cheaper to make what you have faster than start with a whole new motor.
