GEARS, TIRES AND RPMS QUESTION
I HAVE A FOXBODY BACKHALF DRAG CAR WITH 33-15-15 HOOSIER SLICKS. WITH MY OLD MOTOR A 557
AND 4.42 GEAR I WENT OUT THE END AT 154 MPH AND 7200 RPMS. THE NEW MOTOR IS A 598 BUT I
INSTALLED 4.11 GEARS TO TRY AND SOFTEN THE HIT. ALSO I DONT NEEDS TO SPIN THE ENGINE THAT
HIGH. THE CARS WEIGHT IS 2750 WITH ME IN IT. THE OLD MOTOR WAS 825 HP, THE NEW ONE A LITTLE
1000 NA. ANY IDEAS HOW MUCH THE RPMS WILL CHANGE? WOULD STILL LIKE AROUND 6900:D

Re: GEARS, TIRES AND RPMS QUESTION
ok I am curious... what does "blow thru" the convertor mean, and why would it run higher RPM's. thanks

Overpowering the converter, making more power than the converter is able to couple will be similar to slipping clutch.
