Does anyone know the OD of a stock 460 dizzy shaft? I need to get a gear and they list a 0.500 and a 0.530 available. I don't have a dizzy to measure myself.

The stock 460 distributor shaft is supposed to be fitted with a 0.530" ID gear.

Thanks a bunch Paul. I had bought a .530 bronze gear but I think I am going to try the crane unit. 52971-1 I just wanted to make sure I don't exchange the wrong size for another wrong size.

You're welcome. Smile

ALL: By the way, there have been some rather disturbing realizations about aftermarket distributors for the Ford 385 Series over here and if my closer investigation supports our initial realizations, then we 429/460 enthusiasts have a serious dilemma on our hands (actuallly the aftermarket manufacturers do; BTW this does not apply to OEM distributors such as yours, jasonf.) It's not worth getting into the details just yet but if the findings confirm our suspicions they'll be posted on the ol' Net54 forum and later on subsequent forums including this one.

Hello Paul,

What distributor issues for aftermarket distributors? I use an MSD billet, and am not sure what distributor gear to use. I had the Crane steel gear - but after only 200 miles it shows some wear. Thinking a bronze gear may be my only choice.

Like to know what to look for inspecting my MSD distributor.

Enlighten me please.

Cheers
