New headers for 70 1/2 Falcon "update"
I thought I would share a few pics of the new headers I had built for the Falcon. They start with Fab Shop flanges, then 2 1/8" stepped to 2 1/4" primary tubes. The collector is a 3 1/2" starting into the merge. The merge collectors are an adjustable design that will be finished after the engine is dynoed. The collector in the pics is only the entry to the merge. Every header bolt will accept a socket, which is very cool after dealing with the old Hooker headers. The primary tubes are getting ceramic coated now. The headers were built by Alan Flora of Fabricated Components in Franklin, Ohio.

Alan currently has a day job, but if the header business keeps improving he might have to do this full time. There are currently three cars in line to get a set built. If you are interested, send me a pm, and I will give you his contact info.

Thanks for the compliments. Building headers for door cars with shock towers is an art. Tim Murphy had it, and Alan has it.

Very nice, it's obvious the man has skills and spent a lot of time building them. Would you mind telling how much they cost?

Mike, Alan is a friend and did them at a friend's price. I was asked to keep the price between us. I will say that his normal price is less than a typical custom header would be. Contacting Alan would be the best way for you to check price.

They look great Ken!
Best part is... the same ones will fit my Ranchero as well!
Can you PM his info to me please. I've been thinking the Hooker 6115's with 1 7/8" primaries might be bottle knecking my motor.
Regards,

Re: New headers for 70 1/2 Falcon "update"
Here are some pics of my Hooker Super Comp's. These were run on TFS Streets, so they had to be persuaded with the heat wrench in many places. Alan built the new headers for SCJ style heads, but he said that he tried to leave enough room for the TFS Street's raised exhaust port. I will be trying this when I get the merge collectors back from the coaters in a few weeks.

There is a section on the first primary tube on each side that had to be "clearanced" after fixing the angle of the spindle arms. This fixes the toe-in issues, and is a must for anyone who wants to go fast!

[img][/img]
[img][/img]
The 2nd from left primary tube has been repaired twice so far due to thin wall tubing.
[img][/img]
[img][/img]
Notice how my 3" collector extensions had to be flattened to clear the crossmember.
[img][/img]
[img][/img]
Notice how the last primary tube runs through a hole we had to cut in the inner fenderwell. On sharp turns, the tire rubs on this tube. The new headers don't do this.

Re: New headers for 70 1/2 Falcon "update"
Here are the new headers, fresh from the coaters! Next stop will be the dyno on that 533 SCJ that Charlie Evans built. We will be testing Alan's adjustable merge collectors. (Like my little 9" slicks need more power!)

Alan's homemade collectors are a work of art! On the dyno, we will be trying different legnth tips for the point where the primary tubes converge together. Alan said that his low 8 sec. BBC picked up .05 in the 1/4 by finding the correct tip in his collectors.

Re: New headers for 70 1/2 Falcon "update"
Alan told me that if he gets 4 people to commit to a set of these headers, that he would build a jig off of my headers and duplicate them. These headers should fit 70-71 Torino, Fairlane, Falcon, & Ranchero's, as well as 71-73 Mustang and Cougars. I used the same part number Hooker's on my 71 Cougar, and had quite a bit more room around the shock towers.
