TRANS FLUID
Well call me crazy but this is what I'm trying to do. Since I can no longer find and type F or FA fluid I'm going to try this PROD MOD thing. Usig AMSOIL COMPRESSOR OIL ! Yep no friction modifiers what so ever higher flash points than Type F, sound crazy but what the hell. The John deer stuff will tighten the convert and I don't need that right now. They do make this in different SAE grades if you want to tighten the converter if needed. I ran across some form and found this but Now I can remember where. But here this as well

Re: TRANS FLUID
Amsoil compressor oil is damn good stuff, overkill maybe, there is nothing wrong with a good dextron/mercon fluid, b eit synthetic or not. Type F is overated IMO...........

Re: TRANS FLUID
Amsoil is good stuff where high heat environments exist. I sell a lot of it to turbo guys and blower guys.
For most applications including all nitrous stuff we use 20 weight John Deere hydraulic fluid which is almost the same as Type F or most other trans fluids. (not the regular stuff or the tractor supply stuff)
I sell lots of Amsoil, most of what I sell goes to the ADRL, top sportsman, and outlaw promos down here in Texas and I try to make really good deals for people so they will come back. Email me if you are interested in the Amsoil stuff.

Re: TRANS FLUID
One thing to remember is if you use a heavier viscosity fluid make sure whatever trans you use is equipped with a screen style filter as the Dacron filters often restrict flow with those fluids. I prefer Mobil 1, Amsoil, or RP synthetics. The compressor oil works well for high-load cars such as those that spool up turbos on the line. It's also beneficial with a higher flash point so when you blow it apart it's less likely to catch fire, lol.

for the record my Oldani built stock case glide has been flawless now for over 4 seasons, has had the fluid changed only to run the hygard, but went back to the Schaeffer syn atf...................and I've been beatin the snot out of it.

Why did you go away from the hygard?

Re: TRANS FLUID
need the extra rpm so the new intake will work better.
I've noticed on the datalogger the trans takes longer to shift with the hygard, on the hose thats approx 300 rpm.

Re: TRANS FLUID
I had a similar dleayed shift issue with a Lentech Strip Terminator AOD with Hy-Guard and was told by Len to go to B7M Trick Shift Type F which is still out there amzingly enough. Its worked well for several years but now I'm doing a rebuild. Other suggestions have been Swepco and the new ATI Super F. Has naybody run these succesfully?

I have ran a Keith Neal glide for a few years now. Since he recommended it I have used the Amsoil compressor oil with no issues.

Re: TRANS FLUID
most run 20 weight which is virtually the same as regular trans fluid. it's not the viscosity that is the selling point but rather the other chemical properties. kind of like this "magical" john deere hy-guard. we have run it for years but use the low viscosity (20w). doesnt tighten squat up but it's cheaper for us to buy that regular atf due to the fact that we get it in drums. now before all the "experts" chime in, the regular hy-guard is a little thicker and will effect the converter a little depending on the size of the converter, which pump is in it, what transmission and valve body you have and many other variables.
