my winter project Empty my winter project

Just figured since Larry is telling all whe he's working on, I'll show a little of my winter project. For those that know my ranger, it was a full bodied, full bed tuck that looked like this:

As of now, the inner cab has been completely skinned and gutted to make room for the new aluminum dash that I will be bending up after it comes out of paint. As well, the bed is now off and the skins are set aside:

It's amazing how heavy them inner bed parts are. I thought I was gonna pop a nut out of my shorts when I cut the 1st inner side wall off!

I'm doing some cleanup/mild body work and finishing taking the windshield out then it's off to paint. Should have it back in a few weeks after it looks better.....

They can be. Part of why I'm gutting the bed so it makes it easier to wash.

Hell I would have washed it before I worked on it.

I did, but didn't feel like going for the normal deep clean with the pressure washer, so said heck with it and will scrape the driveway when I pull it out to go to the painter. It's going to get a good bath this weekend before it leaves though.

Cutting up that bed will remove weight two ways, one is the steel that is gone, and after you make a pass there is less material for the mud to stick to. You might be light enough to just fly over the mud, and fast enough that you won't get any on you. Very Happy Looks good so far Karl, now next winter you can come on out here and do my Ranger body swap for me. Laughing

We might be able to work something out. I'm already light enough to float on the cuts and spray. I just wanna do it on the DOT's with my little iron headed 466. Twisted Evil

Got a package in the mail last night from the great white north. Yep, the new Frank Merkl trans brake valve body. All I have to say is Frank does some outstanding work. That thing looks awesome just sitting wrapped up in the box! The motor is on the stand and the body is being cleaned up for paint, so as soon as it's back it will be time to make the final changes for the year by throwing in the new valve body and 35 spline axle setup, then all that is left is take it out for testing.

I've also decided to just stick with the upright headers. Got to thinking about all the dust and crap I'll be kicking up with the gasser style headers. I may change when I put the A-headed motor together, but for now, I know how this motor is and don't want to screw it up and make too many changes. Twisted Evil

Somehow I don't see that ever happening unless I break something. But nice try.
