Little body workin....
Just wanted to update a little on the Bird. One of the few things I was not happy with on the car since I have had it was the front bumper cover. The prior owner had pretty much mangled it with tie down straps and winch cable. I added a winch hook and some tie down strap hooks under the car to keep it from getting worse. I recently bought a new bumper cover. Tough to find. Wanted a reman oem cover, but they have been marked as obsolete now for the mid 80's birds. Looked everywhere with no luck. Finally found a new aftermarket cover on ebay. Good price and free shipping. To my surprise it was made in the USA when it came in and fit as well as the factory cover. Should pick it up from paint tomorrow. In addtion to the paint, the new one will have the parking light holes in the from covered and filled. I think it looks good from what I've seen before paint. Will post pics in this thread when I get it back.
In the meantime:
Heavy ass car...yeah it is technically a chassis car... But....it still has the core support, firewall, factory glass except doors. Steel except for hood and trunk. Doors even still have the crash bars inside. It's really just an oem car with a Alston mild steel deal that has been grafted into it.
The old cover, looks like crap:
My B&M plate type trans cooler. I think it turned out pretty well. Can't tell from the pics but it's mounted with a 1.5" gap between it and the radiator and is mounted on rubber feet like an msd box.

Pretty simple. Slight bend in the end then straight out. The side braces are what I attach my tie down straps to in the trailer.

I know...maybe next winter...Hopefully the wallet can recover by then.
Re: Little body workin....
Got the new bumper cover back today and it put back together. I think it looks pretty good. Really like that the parking light holes are gone.
