As some of you already know, We had some issues at the track yesterday..

I can say I am almost 100% cetrain it swallowed a bolt...1/4-20 x 1"

On the QFT 1450.. there are 4 holes around the inlet, where the air pan would sit..
I had used these holes to attach the airpan/ scoop to the carb..

With all the tire shake problem we have had, it obviously had loosened the bolts...
One is missing... it would have been inside the airpan. Need I say anymore ??

Now let me tell what kind of person Phillip Oakley is...
Phillip originally called to see how we were doing at the track... to offer assistance in chassis tuning, if needed.
When I told him what happened, he quickly offered to do what he could to help, even though this issue is not of his doing..

Of course hindsite is 20-20, but use ny-loc nuts next time on anything around the air pan. Sorry it happened and get it up here ASAP. Let me know if you need anything.

Charlie, I did use nylocs...but the bolt wasn't quite long enough for it to "lock".. Sad

That's sad news Mike, hope it turns out to be an easy fix and nothing is hurt. Been down the hard road too, and we all get to have our set backs, but keep the chin up and the KY Krew will have it running like new again real soon. Cool

yup..she was making noise...
plus the crank doesn't turn past a certain point, turns free in each direction to that point...

Here's the video from this past Saturday. I couldn't believe Shocked what I was seeing through the viewfinder so I didn't get the whole thing. Anyway, the initial launch looked pretty good but somewhere around the 100' mark it appears it shook the tires some which is about where all of the timing would be in and it was enough to shake the parachute cable out and of coarse the bolt that Mike found missing Sad .

Doug I know what you mean with the camera deal after Rick built his rx7 we was at Douglas drag strip one night when he left the line about the 60' mark someone had drop some water on the track as soon as his car hit it it made a hard left right into the gaurd rail forgot all about the the camera until it was all over I was filming the ground to
